I seem to only be able to get 17/18, what I'm I missing?

It would be impossible for anyone here to let you know what you missed.

I was unable to get 18/18 on the Wii U after several tries and following several walkthroughs. Wound up going for completion on my ps3 version. Followed the same route and got it 1st try.

As has already been said, it's impossible for us to know... I mean, YOU can't even get a list of the areas you've hit, so it's hard for us to know what you've missed.

However, here are some easy-to-miss areas:

• Just after the beginning, when you get your first steering wheel to move the dinghy-bridge, on the opposite side there's a door to a room under the steering wheel
  
• Just after this you meet some Mohawk Cyclops. There are two houses to enter (one in the lower part and one in the upper part). There's a bomb in one to open a wall in the other.
  
• After solving the problems Blobbers gives you, you end up in a bigger fight, then meet up with Cali. You can use a Giant to pull in the boat, or go into a house next to her to play Skystones to get a guy to pull it for you. Beyond the house is another ship steering wheel, with the other side leading to an Air gate.
  
• When you need to free the prisoner with the cannon, move the cannon all the way to the opposite end to blow open the last cell, then go into it and left to find the Luck-O-Tron Wheel, though I don't think this area has its own name, so this probably doesn't count towards the Area Count.
  
• After you meet Cali again, there are three more areas you could miss. The first is on the right side, opposite from the area Cali is blocking you from, where you find two Axecutioners. Beyond them is an Undead Gate.
  
• Before you place the block Cali wants you to place to get the final key, right UNDER the key is a room, Auric is in there. Once the block is placed, it's blocking your access to him.
  
• In Auric's room, at the bottom left under some breakables is a button to step on, once you break the stuff to reveal it. This lowers a blockade in the main area and opens the door it was blocking. This door is pretty much under that block you have to push to drop it down and push over to make a bridge to the key. This is basically a bonus room with lots of money and the Legendary Treasure.
  

If this doesn't help, check your collectables (Pause the game while in this level, choose Objectives, and move Right to check that you have the third star, or to see what you're missing to get it). Anything you're missing would be an excellent clue as to what area you might be missing. I DO notice that the walkthrough has similar comments on it about having 17/18 and being mystified about it... I feel like I recall that I had some trouble with this, then somehow I got it, even though I didn't seem to go anywhere new. I would also try going far enough to reach a new area, then return to the beginning to make sure the first area triggered.
