i think im starting to have pretentious taste in media. because i really liked the scott pilgrim anime as it was a companion piece to the orginal comic and not another retelling. but whenever i talk to my friends about it they said its bad.

well that and being accused of reading spoilers in fnaf because the beginning credits sequence spoiled the twist

ok finished final fantasy 7 heres why aerith is so memorable. with spoilers but not for remake cause i didnt play it yet

when youre playing ff7 for the first time you get put into the role of a terrorist and a gang of other freedom fighters. the game is brutal and very rebellious with the setting with tone being all cybernetic and cold with the usage of blue and dark hues. so after you falll off a train you fall through a church and meet a girl hanging out with flowers. churches represent shelter and respite. suddenly, this war that youre in is forgotten. youre just alone with a girl who represents innocence and purity.she makes you feel safe as you promise to become her bodyguard and you go on a little date around the ghetto of midgar. gameplay wise aerith plays a unique role of being the only pure healer in the game. shes the only one with a limit break that can heal you. her whole kit is resolved around keeping others alive. healthwise shes very frail so your promise of being her bodyguard makes since when playing.

sure other characters can play the healer role but they all have a distinct military design. barret for example has a literal gun for a hand and tifa having a martial arts monk theme. all these motifs scream damage to you. even other party members like red 13 introduce the mechanic of damaging everyone. i dont think any character starts with materia for healing. and because of this you feel obligated to use her in your party. further building your connection to this polygon model. the game also makes her the easiest character to go on a date with which further shows that the game wants you to feel connected to her. and then suddenly she goes missing. you struggle to find replacements for a pure healer as only yuffie has full party heal in her kit which is locked behind her level 2 limit break and the fact that you have to find her.

you are forced to be in this awkward position where you have to make use of your newly gained knowledge of gameplay mechanics until you suddenly find her. and then she uh.... dies. her archetype never gets replaced. you never find a new party member. shes just gone. forever sure you can make everyone a healer in disc 2. But everyone can also become a mage like 2nd amendment supporter Barrett. It's just how the game works. So yeah that's why I think aerith issuch ab important character

My gf's side of the fam is homophobic and if we get married, I wouldn't want to overwhelm her by having most of my family show up, so our wedding might be pretty small too. All that matters is that you and your partner have a good time! Or heck invite some DS people. :P

Ok Everytime I try to play no more heroes it's fun for like an hour and then you grind money for an hour and it becomes a chore

Ok bear no more heroes 1. I love the simple combat and story. Bosses were mostly fun except for some lame one hit shots that basically just meant your time was wasted. In fact thats how I feel about the game. It's very tedious and grindy and makes the game a chore to play. I get that the point of it was to be as tedious and mundane as possible. But it makes this 10 hour game feel unnecessarily long. This is also why it took me like 20 tries to actually beat this game. Shame because I love the style of this game. It's just so stylish and stupid with weird settings like fighting a singing cowboy with a gun inside a baseball stadium

Or maybe Suda is just really revolutionary and is amazing at using video games as an artform

Ok beaten no more heroes 2. I think it improves the game to be more of the fun parts of 1 but when they try new stuff like some unique boss fights the game suffers. Speaking of bosses the mechanics behind every boss differs. In the original it's more blocking and looking for openings. In this one it's moee dodging/parrying and looking for openings. None of the bosses are really that hard compared to the ones in no more heroes 1 but they are more stylish which makes it fun to watch. The only problem I have with bosses is that the camera is too close to Travis and makes seeing people harder. I think the removal of the open world made this game a lot more enjoyable. However in replacement of downtime means you are just constantly going through missions and it gets super samey. I think the game should have just done it so doing like 3 minutes of games could have good to spacing out the levels. Because the levels are very basic and sometimes boring to get through. Also the muscle training mini game I could probably write a thesis about with how bad it is. I like 2s action more but 1 has better boss fights that felt earned

scott pilgrim anime was really good actually and imo a lot better than both the movie and comics. not sorry.

Gen z is just as tech illiterate as other generations. It's just that technology like iPhones are so simple now and have also been used for years that every gen z knows how to use tech but not really understand it.

Something about phrasing a request or command as "Do you want to [do this thing]?" just gets under my skin. It feels like it's giving you an illusion of choice by framing it that way. I know I'm biased since I don't like it when people aren't direct about things thanks to my autism, and if I didn't know what it was supposed to mean, I'd absolutely interpret it as "Would you like to [do this]?" instead of the likely intended "Could you please [do this]?". I feel a little bad since I know it's just a way to politely ask, but it just bothers me.

Playing final fantasy 7 remake. I feel mixed about this game because ts fun and beautiful but there's just so much padding. Like I get they have to stretch a 5 hour segment into 40 hours but there doesnt need to be animations for every single interaction. Like pressing a button, walking, walking between cracks, walking to the next cutscenes, etc. Gameplay time is so minimal compared to padding time. But then I got to the aerith chapter where you just walk with her and it's honestly my favorite moment in the game so far.

i usually watch chuggaaconroy videos when im doing cardio to make the time go by faster but its gonna be really weird now. i feel really bad for lady emily. :/
