As a player of Genshin, I find this topic absolutely hilarious. In my opinion, it is a matter of perspective, yet people on Twitter have...like...zero brain cells collectively and make an all out war every other day. It's fun seeing what the fandom comes up with as the next point/insult.

please, people, DO NOT call customer service while you're driving. i understand that it feels like a convenient time since you might be there a while, but we almost always require you to read a confirmation number or use a verification code, etc., which takes your attention away from the road. accidents have happened like this. i have heard anecdotes from co-workers. i do not know the fate of one woman who i was speaking to while she was driving whose call suddenly dropped after i heard a scream and i got no answer when i tried to call her back. this is anxiety inducing for us and dangerous for you. please, PLEASE, don't do this.

this week i pulled an allnighter and several nights where 4 hours were the maximum with only the last 2 days being more then 5 hours of sleep and i feel PRETTY GOOD

and also, for whoever needs to hear this, customer service agents in general typically don't care at all when customers say they're going to stop buying from "us" anyway. we're not the marketing team. we don't get paid to make sales or retain customers. especially if it's a big company. you have every right to take your business elsewhere, but million dollar companies aren't going to miss you. and more to the point, our job, as customer service agents, is to support you within our scope. as long as we do everything by the book, our bosses don't give a **** if you don't like what the book says, it has literally no bearing on our pay or employment.

this seems to be a scare tactic—probably popularized by TV shows and movies—but even if you say that, not only are we unphased, but because we need to do everything by the book, there's literally nothing we could do about it even if we wanted to. "I'm only 2 weeks outside my warranty, fix it or else i'm never buying from xxxx again!" nothing we can do. you wanna talk down to us? you think we're some lesser life form that you don't owe respect? then how do you expect us to suddenly have the authority to circumvent company policy? you can't have it both ways.

you might occasionally get a new hire who gets a little anxious about hearing that, but it doesn't change the fact that they literally can not help you any further than what they've already done. all you'll accomplish is getting said agent to place you on long ass holds while they double check every rule and policy, which just wastes your time. and the new hires learn the ropes quickly enough, and all that anxiety dissipates into stoicism just like it has for the rest of us.
