hello,
For S2 Characters, would a person need to go back to spyro's advanture to get the soul gem for that character?

No you can just get them straight away like the normal upgrades

No, the s1 and s2 soul gem powers are automatically available in Giants. No need for a soul gem

Yeah, it's as if you automatically have the Soul Gem for every character who was around for SSA. Series 1 OR Series 2, you just need the money to buy their Sould Gem power. You only have to find Soul Gems for the Giants and new guys (I think the coined term is Newlanders). 16 new characters, 16 levels, 1 Gem per level.

Which isn't to say you CAN'T go back to SSA to buy their Soul Gem power, assuming you found the applicable Soul Gem. I haven't checked, but since SG has more Winged Sapphires, I would guess the upgrades would potentially be cheaper in Giants.
