Yes and no. The water paths in some of the HC's offer short cuts, This can be a slight advantage considering they are time challenged. They hide no other secrets.

Some HCs have time bonuses behind walls for giants to pick up. This is usually because Giants have big disadvantages in some of the HC's because of the nature of the challenge.

Gill Grunt's HC has an alternate key & mabu prison which can be completed only with Skylanders who can swim or fly.
(Water skylanders, Air skylanders, Stump Smash, Double Trouble, Spyro, Cynder, Drobot)

Charm Hunt has so many shortcuts for Water skylanders. Makes sense, in SSA, it was given by Wham-Shell.
