Having done all 32 challenges on all my series 1 skylanders and having worked my way through most of my 100+ figures for the speed challenges in Skylanders:Giants, I thought I knew all there was to know about heroic challenges. But today when working on Thumpback and Eyebrawl I discovered something.

When doing one of the original challenges in the giants version of the game you can leave the Hidden Treasure item on the portal and there will be a dragon treasure chest in the heroic challenges. I confirmed this for the 5 speed challenges in giants that were in the old school version. Placing the Hidden Treasure on the portal during one of the newlander or Giants challenges results in a "There is no secret stash available on this level" message. This is on the Wii U version of Skylanders: Giants.

This is very different behavior than how it worked in Skylanders: SA on the PS3 where leaving an item on the portal while changing challenges would cause the game to crash.

I dunno if this is widely known, but it was news to me. Each chest has about 240-280 in it, though as usual some of it goes over the edge or in unreachable places. But it'll mean finishing all the challenges nets you a character with at least a few skills instead of level 10 and no skills like in S:SA.
