It plays as good as the 360 version IMHO. The gamepad gives you the stats of your skylander or the goals of the level. The only problem I've had is it isn't stable at all. It crashes a lot. But it is hard to tell if it is the game, the Wii U OS, or my Wii U hardware...

Mine has never crashed. The stats on the gamepad are awesome, but the best thing is you can play the whole game on the gamepad. When my son is watching TV I can turn on the game and play it all on the gamepad, just like on the TV.

Yes playing on the pad without having to use a TV is very cool.

I've tried a couple of things to try and solve the crashing issue. But I really haven't been able to play the Wii U version enough to determine if it has fixed it or not.

Your firmware is up to date right? I had one crash on launch day and since then it had been perfect. This is easily the best version of Giants IMO. 1080p visuals and GamePad only play makes this a great buy.

I own the Wii U version and it didn't crash yet. It is awesome with the HD too.

Yes, I have the latest updates. It was so bad I couldn't even get through chapter 4 at one point. And what makes it even more annoying is that when it locks, holding the power button doesn't even turn it off. You have to pull the power plug from the Wii U.

I tried two things. I set the Miiverse (the feature that allows everyone to leave messages to each other in games) to English only. And I disabled the parental protection stuff. So far it hasn't crashed since I did that. But I haven't had a really long play session to test it.

I've been playing it on the 360 since I had so many problems. I have 2 Xbox 360's and two portals for it. And with cloud saves I can play it in both places easily. Also it hasn't crashed once on me.

I plan to play the Wii U version more, I just haven't had a chance to yet.

Xbox 360 version has Achievements too, if you are in to that.

Mine's never crashed. It's just as good as the PS3/360 versions.

I've got the Wii U version, no crashes yet...but I haven't played it as extensively as the Xbox version. I absolutely HATE that you can't check the character stats within the Heroic Challenges, like you could on the first game. That's why I bought the Wii U version...plus the fact Target had buy 2 Wii U games, get 1 free before Christmas!

My Wii U crashed once and lagged once, but hopefully that means nothing.

Also, something weird I found out, dunno if it's just me: when you're on the Troll Home Security level, go to the bridge on the way to those first big cannons you need to blow up (The Battlements), and, if he's on Pyromancer, use Flameslinger's tertiary attack. His arrows shoot into the bridge, and then they spaz out and zip sporadically from side to side like someone playing with a pointer.

I just got off the phone with Nintendo support. Pretty easy getting through to talk to some one! *thumbs up*

He said it is probably either a bad portal (not sure how to test that) or the Wii U is over heating. I don't know where to get another portal for testing, so I'm just going to exchange the Wii U. It is within the return period. Hopefully that will solve that issue.

Just an update. I got a new Wii U. Lost my Network ID and all my saves, but beats getting a used one from Nintendo.

It seems to have fixed my locking up problems. It sometimes fails to launch but has not crashed in the game since I got the new Wii U.

One other negative I can see with the Wii U version as it doesn't seem to have as smooth of a frame rate as my Xbox 360 version. I have no way to verify that. I have no problems with game play though.

I'll just add to what other people have said. I have been playing the Wii U version since it came out and I have had no issues with crashes or anything whatsoever. The HD is great and being able to play on the gamepad while the wife watches tv is a HUGE plus. That way the tv can stay free and I can continue leveling up my characters. It's well worth it.

I have Xbox 360 version and wii-u version on he same TV I can honestly say wii-u has better crisper color and contrast and looks sharper. Also the game play is cooler with the game pad and wiimotes. I am sold on the wii-u version now.

Just wondering, does the Wii U resemble the Wii version in the fact that if you have some sort of softchip loader/back-up launcher you need to tinker around with some settings (change the IOS to 223, enable custom IOSs, etc.) everytime you launch the game in order for the wii to recognize the portal? Just wondering
