If you guys are sure you really want to know and promise not to flame me for trolling, because this is what I was told by the second keyholder at my store whom I know quite well, they got an email today stating that in order to any Skylander at all you now have to spend $30.00 in order to even purchase anything. I asked about my preorder for the Scorpion Striker and she told me according to me email that I will have to buy something else to get it. Even to buy an character, that they are not going to be allowed to sell a single character but you have to spend $30.00 This is ridiculous and stupid if it is true. She did read me the email and it did sound this way. She told me she agreed that it was stupid and was not sure why they chose to do this. The email went on to say something about cutting down on scalpers and having more product on the shelves, and that they would not be restocking a lot of the old product. I talked to her for a while, and she ended saying that the Manager would be in tomorrow and could possibly clear it up, that maybe it was just worded wrong or something, this better be the case, because if not, they just lost all their business except scalpers imo as I know I will definitely buy them elsewhere as I am now caught up thanks to someone on here posting about the LC ShroomBoom at Amazon earlier, I am getting it in tomorrow, so I am totally caught up. They don't even have anything I need at my Gamestop, is this is the case tomorrow I will buy whatever to get the Battle pack and then return it as this is the stupidest thing ever. I guess I will clarification in the morning. What bothers me the most is she is great at her job and very reliable. Hoping she just misread the info. If any of you can find out from your gamestops tonight that would be great, but I'll know tomorrow. If it is true, then Activision, she says it came from them, and that it is not Gamestop. Finding this hard to believe also but if that is true, then no one seems to wan to sell merchandise or make money. Sometimes at least here, they get in only 1 character you need. Also accessories are not included only 3packs, battle packs, Singles, Giants, and Starters. There it is folks. Hopefully she is soooooo WRONG! Looking forward to Hot Dog tomorrow, but this other ugh!......

This email she was refering to has to do with the "Sidekicks" that are coming out (Exclusive to GameStop). In order to get a Sidekick you will have to purchase $30 worth of Skylanders.

Yeah I thought so too dinoah2005 but she says not. That this email is not referring to the sidekicks promotion, they read me that email yesterday. I'm hoping she is just misinformed but she told me they got in 2 Hot Heads today, only thing they got, and she had to deny a child that she knew to buy it because he didn't need any others and his mom wouldn't spend 30.00 to get him the only character he needed. It bothered me all day that a child couldn't even get the one he wanted because of something like this that in my opinion, is just stupid. So she has actually lost sales today because of this and says according to this new email it is how they are going to do it from now on. Looking forward to clearing this up with the manager tomorrow, but I think she should have called him today and clarified especially since the kid left upset as she told me. Really bad business her in my opinion and if it is how they are going to do it, it's really bad.

Hey The PunchPopFizz I also hope she is misinformed and this is false info from her, because if not, I will not be shopping at Gamestop for anything. I agree it is ridiculous but it is what I was told. i was on the phone with her for quite some time especially over my pre order tomorrow and having to buy something I don't need to go with it. Hopefully this will be cleared up tomorrow will post as soon asI get back with actual info from the manager, but she swares to me this is true. We'll see...

I'm going to go with Johnny and say he's not making it up. Not saying I believe the story but I'm going to put my money on the 'she is an idiot' and 'should be fired' parts.

EDIT: and what would this have to do with scalpers? They buy everything the can get their hands on, it's quick and easy for them to spend $30. If anything, this would have the total opposite effect, leaving regular customers let Skylanders sit on the shelves for the scalpers to come by and pick up... Just like the HotHead in the story...

Only thing I can say to this is I pre-ordered the battle pack online and I got a confirmation email that it's ready to ship. I only bought the battle pack, nothing else. It does come to just over $30.00 with tax and shipping, but businesses don't count tax and/or shipping towards final dollar value.

This is true. 30 dollar purchase for 1 sidekick. call GS and had them read me the memo they received.

Hey guys I promise you this is what I was told today and what happened. I am not making this up, it is too stupid and far fetched to even make up. I hope she is just mixed up and they got a second email about the Sidekicks, because if not, she actually told me to be prepared tomorrow to buy something else, and when I told her unless you get something else new I have everything (of course she knows this they know me quite well) I will have nothing to buy. She then said well you can either not get the pack, and we can refund your pre order deposit, or you may have to get something you already have (which in my opinion to spend $10 on something I have would just be stupid). I am really hoping she is wrong. My manager will be in in the morning and believe me I am going to talk to him ASAP and get this cleared up. I have run businesses before and if this happened and someone cost me sales due to a misunderstanding, and upset my customers, including an innocent child, termination would definitely be the course of action. I really like this girl and she has been super nice and helpful and has never given me mis-information before. I guess we will all know tomorrow..... God bless you guys just pray (if you do that) that it is a mistake. The sidekick thing is already stupid enough for those that have nothing to buy but a couple of new things, and not this...ridiculous. I'll post tomorrow on what happens. I really really didn't want to post this and people kept asking, so I did. Thanks for not being too mean.
