hi guys has anyone else got this issue when i put stone variant whirlwind on the portal its not coming up as special at level 5 or even with the 2100 gold but every other variant i have does including stone zook any info or help will be appreicaited ave contacted activision and they have basically told me to P*** off!!!

There are errors like this out there. Mine does show up as special.

Mine also showed up as special.

Reset him

if i reset him it will still say the same will it not as its a programming error is it not thanks to the people who cleared this up for me

just rest the figure still nothing what a load of bull u pay the money for these are there faulty

I remember reading that perhaps the problem lies within early versions of the game itself. Have you access to another copy of the game (store demo, friend's house) where you could try your variant on?

Because it's nice to have something that visibly counts as a part of your collection in the game itself? Otherwise you might as well just grab all the chase variants.

Nope only buy them cus the show up as special (if they did not they would not be needed for having a compleat collection).

chase variants are OK. if i got a gold one, i would repaint it, though. gold looks horrible on the goldies.

I had heard that some of the rock/stone variants don't show up as "Special" in game, but both of my rock and both of my glitters show up as "Special"... someone said this was an early error and was rectified by the time the glitters were released (as well as the later rocks), but I'm not sure... did you find yours in the store recently, or buy it online from someone (where it's very possible that it could be one of the first, "non-special" rock variants)??

i got it from a guy on ebay mate i contacted activision about it and they basically told mr to P*** off they wouldnt entertaine me pretty crap from them if u ask me

Dude just be grateful and glad you have a stone whirlwind...I don't mean to sound rude, but gosh there are folks who'd love to have one regardless if it came up as special in game; I am one of them.

I really don't understand why people are getting in such a frenzy over this. Some of the variants are glitched. Theres NOTHING you can do about it. So just be glad in the fact that you've got this rare chase variant that most people are not at all lucky enough to find.

It really shouldn't matter at all.

HOW DARE U SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT lol ha ha ha ha ha only joking buddy a know what u mean ive leveled it up to 15 already anyway its just the fact that its not showing up in the game thats annoying me that the only thing thats annoying me about it was goin to give it to my son and get another one but he would rip it open and finger it all the time and i would be like aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh lol

I know it can totally be frustrating, but good to know that you've managed to overcome the aggravation. I'd be slightly tiffed myself.
And wow..yeah I'd never open the variants Glad my kids aren't a fan of the game so I can keep them how I like

The first chase I've ever found in the non special stone whirewind it did kill the special feeling when I opened and put on portal. But non the less whirlwind is one of my favorite charicters and I love how it looks and ether way 10 years from now it will not matter it reads up specail or not there may not be anymore skylanders in that time so y worry you know.

This might be off topic but where do you get stone variants?

^ They were released in wave 1 of Giants and there was roughly 1 variant in every 50 boxes... some people also buy them second hand on eBay, or [I like to check] Craig's List too... they sometimes get way better deals than you'd see on eBay (but Craig's List a local thing so might not be a good idea if you don't live near a big city)!! The special tag is kind of an authenticity thing. Look at all the talented customizers out there!
So it sucks that they didn't code all the rock ones properly, even though they're probably mostly legit there there's always the chance of getting a very good custom(fake) one.

I think this is especially important. They don't make enough to meet demand, and they get bought out before they hit shelves, then sold for loadsamoney. They needed some way to make people know they have an authentic variant.
