The "nerf" affects him through all versions of Giants since they're based off the Wii engine.

On SSA on the PS3 you could hit the same enemy multiple times with the same skull charge, however on the wii version you could only hit once, but on all versions of Giants you can only hit once.

I hated Ghost Roaster's charge move on the Wii version of the first game. When Xpec ported the game to 360 and PS3, I considered Ghost Roaster to be... fixed.
His charge move should be able to hit enemies multiple times, not just once per enemy. It makes the move worthless. Ghost Roaster done by Xpec = awesome. Ghost Roaster done by TFB = meh. I want his skull charge doing multiple hits.

In TFB's version of S:SA (the Wii version), Ghost Roaster's charge attack can only hit each enemy once per attack. It's a fairly long attack that can't be cancelled, so its capability is somewhat limited. The company that ported the game to the PS3 & X-Box 360 made a number of changes to the game engine. One of those changes allows Ghost Roaster's charge attack to hit enemies multiple times per attack. That allows you to circle around and keep racking up damage for as long as the attack lasts. I think I might have read that the attack's duration is also controllable, but I'm not sure on that one. Since TFB handled all three versions of the game for Giants, these version discrepancies have largely vanished. Since they of course based the Giants engine off their own S:SA engine rather than the other company's port, characters like Ghost Roaster play more like they did in S:SA Wii than in S:SA PS360. Calling it a "nerf" simply stems from some people's PS360-centric bias. S:SA was created for the Wii. Any differences between the Wii version and the HD versions are caused by the porting to the HD consoles. So while you'll often hear about how Ghost Roaster is nerfed on the Wii and Eruptor was improved, in reality it's the other way around. Eruptor was nerfed and Ghost Roaster was improved in the porting process. Edit: Beat to the punch. Typing on my phone between interruptions at work... |
