I think we will. It seems to be Toys for Bob's thing now. I wish so bad, that I could sit in on one of their announcements at Toy Fair. I would be in Heaven, lol. I could, but only if I were a mod on a Skylanders dedicated website, or ran my own Skylanders site. Then, I could attend Toy Fair and E3.

If it is like last year, we will get a short video, a name and a few images of a new Skylander or two. Then get a lot more details come E3 and see some gameplay.
I think my most desired feature would be four player support (using a second portal, since many have an extra portal anyways), or maybe at minimum 2 per console online play. Four player arenas could bring back that old Power Stone 2 fun. Another idea I would love to see is maybe hybrid element Skylanders. Maybe have the new ones share two elements - like a fire/ice one or tech/magic. Or along those lines, be able to have team abilities when paired with other elements. |

That would be a good idea. 4 player COOP should be really hard, so people don't breeze through it. Four player battle mode would be fun, but I see that happening when characters' HP gets in the thousands, so battles will last longer... unless they make bigger arenas for 4 vs. 4.
They should add online. This game needs online.

Online has to be done right though. It is a mostly kids game, after all. And since it is on Xbox360 as well, you have to have considerations for voice chat, and the parental headaches for that. My son plays some games online, but isn't allowed to do so for XBox games, it is just too much of a wild west. Mario Kart is fine, because you can't talk or communicate, and WiiU has been ok, since they seem to police it really well.

4 Player would require a bigger portal.

Sure would be a good way to sell more of the more expensive Starter Packs next time, wouldn't it? |

Online play. Tho I dunno if we'd hear about it at toy fair. I know it's complicated but they can do it in a simple way. At the minimum no communication and random opponents. Friends would be nice so everyone here can play. Battle modes is much more important for me than coop. Built in messages or emotes if coop. I think coop is a bigger hurdle due to switching skylanders. I mean sure just let the other player go but it'd be harder than battle mode. Not that hard of course. I'd love no reposes but that's probly gonna happen. So many possibilities really. Online is the one thing I'd wish for tho. Still gonna get it and catch em all either way.

I for one just dont want a "third" release of the same characters as the bulk of the game unless you DRASTICALLY change them, and I dont mean there pose. Now if you added a whole new set of attacks to choose from or a third path to upgrade, then that is one thing.... but to just add one power and a different look will not have me buying them just like I am not getting all of series two guys. I will get the one or two of our favorites and that is it. Now you come out with 30 or so brand new characters and release them like the first game... i would love it. But I dont think that will happen. Not in the time frame they are probably gonna want to push out the game. I just hope we get more "new" characters then just 16 like this time. Lightcores dont count....

I would be fine with some reposes only if they were just the 8 missing reposes from Giants, and *maybe* the 8 Newlanders. They do NOT need to repose the Giants, they were the thing for this game.
In the end though, I have the opinion that the reposes served an additional, hidden purpose. They likely upgraded the space on the internal chip in anticipation of future upgrades that the original figures did not have the room to contain. If this is indeed true, I hope they planned ahead when designing the chips for Series 2 figures to be future proof. It wouldn't surprise me if Series 1 support was dropped for game 3 - or even just further limited. |
