I doubt anyone buying this cares what it looks like in the game - I' sure only a true collector would spend this kind of money.

The games been out for less than 3 months - just how old of news can it be? And if you knew about it already, why comment? That just keeps the topic alive.

I don't agree with people who scalp like crazy. As I said in another post putting 5 extra bucks on a Wham Shell, I get it. Not saying I agree with it but, I get it.
However, The people who buy these on ebay are the reason that people do this. It is not because someone forces them to do it, it's because people pay the premium for them. If you really want to stop the scalpers don't hate the scalpers hate the people who buy them for that amount. Also, if I were in the case where I worked at TFB or Acti who gave these out and it was just going to sit somewhere and collect dust and not be appreciated, why not let someone who will enjoy it have it. Take GM, all the arguing over his collection and what he was going to do with it off to the side, he would be someone who will enjoy the one he got for free from the employee. Instead of it going for insane amounts of money on ebay this guy gave it to him for free. Again, I am not saying that I agree with this form of scalping, however don't blame the scalpers blame the people who buy them. |

bazinga i dont agree with blame the people that buy them if the company banned these people from selling these in the first place on places like ebay and gumtree then people that get the blame for buying them ("I.E MYSELF") would not be able to buy them and u would not also be selling battlegrounds portal and code would u.

I do not know if people from Activision and TFB were/are banned from selling these. Also, I am selling the portal and code for 15 dollars if that. It's not like I am scalping these. I am not going to be using them so why throw them away/let them sit. If you want to buy one it is your money. That is fine. I also stated that I don't agree with scalping in the sense that people buy the figures just to put them up on ebay to try and make a quick buck.
Take Hot Head for example, I did not agree when people were posting him on ebay for 50 bucks and they had 4-5 for sale. I guess what I am/was trying to say that scalpers get the bad rap in all of this but to be fair people who buy them in a sense more of the figures that are out for sale to the general public and pay the inflated prices need to take some blame in the game too. It is a two way street and both sides need to have some blame. I was not trying to start a fight or anything. It is just my personal opinion that you can't only blame one side in this case. |

You can't blame anyone for trying to make a buck or more, on a hot item! - You have the right to not like all you want, but anybody who purchases something or is given something, has the right to sell it if they so choose. I love the game, and I love all the figures I have, but if I worked for the company and got this type of exclusive figure, I'd sell it in a heartbeat. I was luck enough to come across a Glow In The Dark Warnado and a Rock Zook over the past year. Sold each of them and used the money to buy more figures. I started them both at cost, one went for $88 and the other for $137, does that make me a scalper?

tGrimm.... it depends on who you ask in your situation. For me.... I get it... but I don't exactly agree with it. The biggest problem that I have is with people who don't play skylanders but they go around and pick up figures like hot head and wham shell and you will see they have 5-10 of them for sale at 40-50 dollars a pop. That is what drives me nuts.
However, it is a two way or maybe a three way street in this situation. 1. Scalpers who do that need to be stopped or kick in stomach. They are just toying with little kids and big kids who want the latest character and don't want too wait. 2. People who buy them also deserve some blame. If people would wait for more to come out (more on this in a moment) then the scalping on Ebay and Amazon would not happen as it would not be profitable for the scalpers. 3. The third part is probably the easiest way to put an end to all of this. Activision and TFB could/need to make more stock available. Instead of flooding the market with Bouncer and Swarm, take some of that production time and make more Hot Heads. If you have more of a supply at TRU and other stores, where people can readily find them. That is going to stop most people from trying ebay to either sell or get one. Yes, Bouncer is up for sale on Ebay but in most cases going for the retail price plus shipping or less. People are free to do what they want. This is just my opinion as in this case I think all three sides need some blame. I could have maybe used better words in my original post, but hopefully this clears it up on what I was trying to say. I was not trying to make anyone mad as that Prism Break is a different beast as almost everyone on here does not have a chance at getting one of those other than Ebay. I was trying to make my point in the case of a regular character like Hot Head or Wham Shell. |

I hear what you are saying, but I guess my thing really comes down to this - no one is being forced to pay an ridiculous amount for any figure - it's a choice, nothing more. Yeah I wanted Hot Head the day it came out, I could have got on eBay and paid $40-$50 bucks, but I waited, probably over a month, and finally came across one at Walmart. Again, I understand what you are saying, but the only people who seem to have any problem with it are the ones that neither buy them or sell them on eBay, they are just mad someone else is. Get over it, and either shell out the money to get it now, or purchase one when you happen across it.

I do actually sell stuff on ebay. I have all of the regular characters that are out. Variants and what not like I said are a different beast. I am perfectly content on waiting to find some characters that are in short supply. Again, as I stated before you can't just blame scalpers. You have to look at all sides in the equation, I am just trying to point out that everyone bears part of the blame in this. |

No, this is literally from an employee that is not happy with salary and was given a bonus. lol This is why Toys for Bob should just not make these in the first place.

I'm not sure who/what post you are responding too. Anyways, from your post I will try and explain my opinion on this. It was asked in an earlier thread why TFB would do this or should they do this is. As a person who has worked for over half my life, I started working fast food when I was 14 for minimum wage and have worked ever since for small companies and bigger corps like TFB and Acti. You are going to have people who think they are not paid enough or their job is crap. It will come with anything that people do. Let's face it, if your young still in school or an older adult we all have days either in school or at work that are crap. (What I am talking about here may seem a little odd, but I will tie back in soon.) So what companies will do to boost morale, production, and work quality is they will give out "bonuses" or "gifts" to employees. They usually do this around the holidays due to the fact that A) This is when most people are having hard times money wise due to the holidays or It could be the end of the year for the company. Now, in some cases companies give out cash bonuses to employees others give out the trinkets, hams or whatever. The money it costs companies to give these items out, usually comes back to them in increased morale and work. I don't know if they were given restrictions on being able to sell these variants on ebay or not, but as they are appearing in multiple numbers lets assume they weren't. Instead of giving the rumored 1000-8000 employees who got this figure an average of 100 dollars that would have cost them 100,000-800,000 dollars, they give them these figures that cost the company a lot less. Let's say just for numbers sake as I am not sure how much they cost them to make, it costs them 7 dollars to make one figure. So, if they gave these to 1000 employees at 7 dollars a pop you are looking at 7000 cost for the company. Even if they have 8000 employees you are looking at only 56k instead of the 800k. Which as you can see to the people who sold it are selling it on ebay, they are getting a lot more than 100 dollars. So in their eyes they may look at it as a bonus or whatever they want to call it, it is an extra 500ish dollars in their pocket. They are happy and TFB and Acti will be happy with the increased morale and better work. Now that being said, you will still have the angry worker who says they don't get paid enough. To them, having a job that pays X amount an hour is better than the other option of not having one. |
