Just looked at the new TRU ad and it says "NEW! Wave 3 is here! 8 to choose from!" Anybody have ideas?

I'm thinking they made a mistake.

Had to be a mistake unless they're counting two other new products as Wave 3 like the bike and backpacks or something. And they actually advertised it as "Wave 3"?

Maybe they included Hot dog and S2 Zap even though they don't come out until later.

Yeah it says wave 3 is here! It has a pic of lightnig rod and cynder S2 of course.

Yeah, we were discussing this in another thread. I believe some user stated it was just the amount that was in Wave 3 boxes which would be the 6 we know of and the extras that are in the boxes (like Pop Fizz, Flashwing, and whoever the other one is)

I didn't know they publicly announced it as "Waves" on advertisements, lol. It's that serious, huh. Kids be goin' crazy like, "Ey we need that Wave 3!"

To me, it seems like the reason they're actually advertising it is to 1) get people in the store before Christmas and 2) encourage them to buy them at the higher price. Yeah, it's only a dollar more, but if someone is buying $5 characters, that's that much extra for them.

Now that of course is peasant change to a corporation like TRU, but I saw a guy with a cart full of skylanders. Like literally full to the top. He had to have been buying one of each for his kids.

Imagine that in one store, then multiplied over all of TRU's stores. It adds up, especially in this franchise.

I was puzzled by 8 too. My guesses would be either the Hot Dog pack with another new guy, or the old ones included such as Pop Fizz and Flashwing. I don't know.

Can't be battle pack since they don't get it til feb.

Honestly, I think the other 2 are Zap and Hot Dog. They are considered Wave 3.

But it's a tru ad and tru doesn't get the pack til feb. doesn't make any sense. Would make it a typo.

They may not get it until Feb. remember how Gamestop didn't advertise that they were getting Royal Double Trouble as an exclusive. It maybe a long shot however, maybe their is something exclusive that they are not telling us about now. Then TRU may get the battlepack in Jan.

Read it again. NEW only relates to the fact that Wave 3 is here. There are eight characters packed in the boxes that they are getting for Wave 3. That doesn't mean that two of the eight characters can't be restock "filler," like more Hot Heads or whatever.

They word it to make it sound more impressive, but they never specifically state that there are eight new Skylanders to choose from in Wave 3.

There are 12 in the boxes. Not just 8.

There are technically 11 characters in these cases (2 Flashwings). TRU sent out a procedure plan for distributing wave 3 that very few if any of there stores received. All wave 3 Lightcore characters were to be on shelf by 6am 12/20. An email was sent to customers stating that new characters would be available 12/21 at 6am. The directive was to take all Lightning Rod's, Stealth Elf's and Prism Break's out of the cases for these early bird customers. All other figures in wave 3 (there are 8) were to be placed on the shelf at midnight 12/23.

The 8 was either a typo or information that was thought to be accurate at the time it was printed - several weeks ago - then updated. Remember we have known about this ad since November. They also sent out an email on Saturday that said 5 new characters.

Oh, and the directive said to place half the cases out on 3/21 and place the other half out on 3/23. The stores that said to hold the news ones until Sunday are wrong. They sent out an email on Thursday that specifically showed those new figures and said available at open on 3/21.

You can be sure that the 8 include Flashwing and Pop Fizz. The people who write this stuff up aren't literate in Skylanders. No doubt they think these are new characters because they come in boxes marked Wave 3.

The ads weren't printed yesterday. Those ads are printed WEEKS in advance and sent to newpapers that send them out. Newspapers do not print the ads that they contain. In fact, when a company makes a mistake they tend to just post a correction at the store, rather than update the ads and send it back out.

Well, under packs on this website it says Wave 3: Scorpion Striker Pack or w/e it's called. Also, even if it's released in January it's not a WHOLE new wave. It's just an add on to wave 3 right now.
