You have to start a new save file and choose Nightmare as your starting difficulty. Once you chose nightmare for that save file it stays that way for the save file, as you can't change it.

Yes, and let it be known that you can delete your old save file and start a new game without there already being one, and still play nightmare mode, as long as the save data utility you have on the hard drive has a history in which you've beaten the game already in any difficulty.
For this reason, I don't even waste my time trying to find everything until I start the nightmare mode. |

I will try on nightmare. It will probably give me nightmares, so I don't know if I will finish it.

That means having 80 Orange base Skylanders plus 3 Stars on the Levels.

Nightmare mode was too easy for me.
I want the next game's Nightmare Mode to be available from the start, and be way harder than the Nightmare Mode on this game. I remember Paul talking about people in the TFB offices seeing who can get the furthest with the least amount. Just wait until I record myself doing it with Skylanders that have all moves, but are level 1 (ie 1 hit and you're dead).

Thats why Nightmare mode was easy for you, the game lowers the difficulty based on the Skylanders Level and stats, if they are in level one, they will have no problems, now if they are level 15, they are up for a real challenge |

The Nightmare Mode idea still has to sell to the general public, this not suppose to be turned into some Ninja Gaiden game that is insanely hard to beat. It's just more of a challenge but reasonable challenge.

True. Nightmare mode COULD have been: * You pick one Skylander of each element (and only one can be a giant) at the start, as well as a maximum of two items - that's all you can ever use for the whole game * Enemies are given elemental resistances or immunities, so no matter how good you might be with Stealth Elf, if a foe takes zero damage from everything she does, you're switching characters * If a Skylander falls in battle, it can't be revived until you reach a "team recovery" point in the game (this would be after every four levels that you complete or so) * Skylanders that attempt Nightmare mode have their figures "Nightmare Flagged" - unless you beat Nightmare Mode, that figure will be unusable in future games But their target audience doesn't REALLY want Nightmare Mode to give them nightmares. As for the CURRENT Nightmare Mode, when you can beat the game with Factory Default Settings - Tree Rex, Jet-Vac, Cynder and nothing else - THEN you can claim it's too easy. If you're leaving thirty unconscious Skylanders behind you with each level, you've just cleared The Beginner's Nightmare. |

It would be really nice if instead of buying myself the completion of the game, I could earn it. It seems like the game has a lot of buying, which is why Nightmare Mode is so important for people. It makes it feel like its still a game worth earning a victory, instead of "you bought all the figures, you win".

Just hope they don't ruin another game the way the last Ninja Gaiden was. Most people loved it being a challenge but they did a 180 with the last one. Made it so easy that you weren't really playing you were just mashing whatever button it told you to.

This was talked about before release but I don't think they actually did it. I am playing Nightmare with guys levels 1-11 and there are 1-hit deaths. Don't press B at the wrong time with Sprocket.

If you start nightmare mode and over write a file can you keep all your old hats or do you have to start fresh?

^ Start fresh. That's the reason many people simply rush through for the Knight Hat, equip it from that file, and use their original Normal Mode game for general maintenance/Heroics.

Wait, so Nightmare mode isn't just a quick fix like Easy-Hard? You have to actually start it all over again?

Yep. AAALLLL over again. I think you even have to switch ownership if you want Heroics on that file too.

Wear the Hat on Skylander in Nightmare mode, then go into your other file, and use the Skylander with the hat there, it should be registered afterwards. |

Yes, unfortunately that's what that means. Bugs me too. I have two save games, my original and my Nightmare, I just used my Nightmare to equip all of my Skylanders with the Knight's Helm, and they're still wearing it when I'm in my normal save game. As far as I've seen, no, wearing it in the the non-Nightmare save game does not add it to your collection there. If you change someone's hat, you have to go back into the Nightmare game to put the Knight's Helm back on.

Nightmare mode has never sounded so intriging. Honestly, I was just content with completing the acheievement stars in the dificulty I had set. (The lowest one because I try to enjoy the game for the storyline first.) But I may just try Nightmare mode now.

Knight's Helm, the hat you get for defeating Kaos in Nightmare mode, is, no question, no argument, no opinion, statistically the BEST hat in the game, better even than the Gold Top Hat. It's the only hat to raise all 4 stats. 6 points for Speed, 15 for the other 3 stats (15 points being higher than most hats except for a handful of One-Stat hats). I just wish the Elemental and Speed boosts were reversed, I find Elemental pretty useless, it's only once in a blue moon that I have a character in their own element.
