The name is Eric & I'm new to this forum. So lets be nice. Anyway, I just picked this up tonight at Walmart. I was hoping to find a variant, but couldn't find any. Sadly. Anyway, if you guys have any hints or tips to help me find these variants, much appreciated.

These are variants. Well "one color" or non-ingame variants. There is a search function to the forum on the left. Second link down in the Forum section. I recommend using it.

It's just chance I'm affraid, or you can pay for one on Ebay, but I'm not sure if the prices are high still.

It's all about luck and beating the scalpers. Maybe talk with employees of the stores and find out when they get their new shipments in and when they actually put them out. Then try to make a routine visit like clockwork to that specific store. Eventually the employee(s) may recognize you/befriend you and might be nice enough to hold something off the shelf for you for when you come in.

As for the two you picked up they are variants. Some Walmarts have a billion of the Sonic Boom while others will have none. The drill sergeant I have never seen in any grouping larger than 2.

Also for finding variants. What I would do is call your local gaming shops and what not when they get their shipment in like Gamestop. I believe it's 10:00 Wednesday morning and they get the newer stuff in so maybe maybe not for variants. I found a variant by just calling

I would also check back relatively often to Walmart on those.
Mine has them off and on. The thing is they only fill the display as they're emptied. So just 'cause you don't see it doesn't mean they aren't going to put more out.

Stopped by my Wally-World early this morning and they had a couple handfuls of the GitD Sonic Boom ((Handfuls measured as someone who stocks Skylanders and knows how to balance WAY too many of them in each hand.))

The Red one though - I don't see it often in my Walmart but it's on their website all the time. It's almost perpetually on sale as well.


I will say - just because you don't see doesn't mean they don't have it - and big places like Tru and Walmart that /might/ have boxes in the back usually have too many or not enough time to dig through a box to find it for you. However on exclusive they come marked in their own 12 count boxes ((at least for Sonic Boom there and Legendary Stealth Elf)) so asking someone if they have them in the back might not hurt your chances - it's how I got my Granite Crusher at target. They didn't have ANY room to put him out but they had six boxes of six in the back.
The sad truth is most employees are not paid enough to keep up with the craze and therefore are not going to spend time unpacking and then repacking other stuff up to fit the exclusives on the shelf.

those are the two easiest variants to find.
my walmat has glow Sonic Boom's all week and there still not selling out.
and i seen a lot of Red Drill's there, but not lately.
also if you didnt know, glow Sonic Boom dos appear as "special" in game.

Edit: seen a Red Drill today for the first time in 4 months!

I saw both GITD Sonic Boom and Red Drilly's at my Walmart today... I'm wondering when the poor Red Drilly's will find their home as they've been there for quite some time now!!
