Does green gill grunt show up green in game, or is he a "special" variant?

Well he does not show up different in game nor does it say "Special" in giants.

Even in the 3DS, he's registered as the same as S1 GG... it'll give u an error that the figure has already been uploaded with data, do you want to replace? There is nothing special about his RFID chip, it's a normal S1 GG chip!

I bought him off a guy and he came level 5 with 1200 gold. almost same as clear red and glow in the dark figs

^ Mega, we were talking about the game registration and overall Skylander count in the Collections... most variants show up as "special". Yes, he comes into the game at level 5 with 2100 gold, but does is not recognized as another figure, as far as recognition is concerned, he is counted no differently than the S1 Gill Grunt.
