I was bummed that the new portals don't light up on the sides so I decided to swap out the parts from my first portal. Now my wired portal for Giants on the Wii glows on the top, bottom, and sides. I'll be happy to post a pic if anyone actually wants to see. I just have to figure out how to post pics on here first.....

I would love to see pics of this! Maybe even a tutorial? I was just as bummed out as you were that the Giants Portal doesn't glow like the original one.

I'll take and post some pics soon as I get home (at work right now) and I'll work on a tutorial if you're really interested. It's actually quite simple, just gotta remove a few screws and make sure you line things back up right when putting it back together.

Sorry I haven't gotten them up yet, there was an emergency with my wife's grandmother so we've been at the hospital for the last 2 days. (Everything is fine now, thank you) I will post pics in a few hours when I am back home.

If possible, can you post a guide on how to do it also? I too felt disappointed that the new Portal of Power didn't glow on the sides either, and would like to do that too.

I'm a bit confused here, what parts did you switch? It looks like you've got the original shell with the new base - but how did you manage to get the cable in the old case?

The bottom half is the new portal while the top half is the old portal. The interier guts are still from the new portal so that it'd have enough power to still light up the giants and lightcore figures

flip the portal over ![[User Posted Image]](http://imageshack.us/a/img651/4826/edit1oz.jpg) remove the black covers over the screws ![[User Posted Image]](http://imageshack.us/a/img14/5884/edit2ks.jpg) take out the screws and remove the bottom cover of the portal there are four screws you have to take out to seperate the interior guts from the outer shell of the portal ![[User Posted Image]](http://imageshack.us/a/img16/4113/edit3ts.jpg) ![[User Posted Image]](http://imageshack.us/a/img59/779/edit4me.jpg) simply remove the top half of the shell from the interior parts and swap the shell pieces around and screw everything back together |

there are some tabs that you have to be aware of when putting everything back together to get all the parts to line up and fit properly ![[User Posted Image]](http://imageshack.us/a/img842/8075/edit6m.jpg) there is a notch on the interior parts that line up with a plastis tab on the top half of the outer shell. ![[User Posted Image]](http://imageshack.us/a/img839/7868/edit5q.jpg) the tab is located between these two symbols on the INSIDE of the top shell there are also some tabs and notches to line up when you place the bottom of the portal back on ![[User Posted Image]](http://imageshack.us/a/img843/3926/edit7uz.jpg) ![[User Posted Image]](http://imageshack.us/a/img18/3923/edit8x.jpg) this notch and tab fit together when the bottom goes back on the portal when all is done you should have two portals, one of which will light up like a christmas tree ![[User Posted Image]](http://imageshack.us/a/img837/9985/edit9.jpg) [EDIT You will need a small set of screwdrivers to get at the interior screws on the portal ![[User Posted Image]](http://imageshack.us/a/img26/5783/edit0.jpg) the largest philips screwdriver from this set worked perfectly |

I will be attempting this today. Is it possible to swap the green and white part of the base as well?

yeah, that's just a plastic ring, it's not screwed down or anything. If you have an xbox you could swap out only the rings I'd imagine, but for those with a Wii like myself, (or a ps3) you have to swap out the top half of the portals so you can keep the wired base.

cool, glad to hear it! This was my first attempt at doing a tutorial of any sort so I'm glad people can understand it. I'm not usually the best at explaining things.

That is cool. Sad that I missed the light up portal. Got the xbox bundle and it has the new unlighted portal. Now to experiment with the second portal I have and see how hard it is to dremal out the runes and back fill with an opaque plastic card. |

I just completed mine I couldn't swap the green bit on the base as it was thicker. It looks better now that they glow but it doesn't glow as bright as the wireless portal did.
