I picked up a blue Crusher Skylander giant from Target for my kids for Christmas. Question: They already have the regular Crusher Skylander Giant, so will this one do anything different? Is the only difference in the Target exclusive the color? Is there any reason to have the blue one, if they already have the other one?

well he has better stats so that is good and he looks different in game and by the way the blue s name is granite

If your kids are into having a crusher with each of the paths, they can the other path with the granite crusher. Not sure how old kids are and if they would understand that yet or not. Just a thought.

Really, not much of a difference. The toy figure and in game figure look different. That is probably the only thing they will see that is different. If they are older with the mentality of 'gotta have them all', then it will be great to have. Otherwise it is only a small difference.

If they really really like skylanders giants get them granite crusher or if you have enough money get them both but if you had to get only one get granite crusher.

Nope, they're just differently colored. I don't even think Granite Crusher has any sort of different stats compared to regular Crusher.

Quite honestly though, it might be nice to have one to go down each of Crusher's paths. Granite Crusher is also a little bit more rarer (and possibly, will be even more so in the future) so if you can convince them to keep it in the package, you could probably sell it down the road and help to fund other Skylanders that will be coming out next year.

I think it probably depends on how old they are. Like others have said, they can take him down Crusher's alternate upgrade path. If they really like collecting the figures, then having this one will be nice as well. If that's not really their thing, or if they're younger, I'd say just skip it and get them another Giant they may need. (or other character for that matter)

granite crusher has +6 armor and +10 critical more than Crusher. This stat boost is the same for all in-game variants.

Thank you for the help! They are 7 and 10 and freaked when they saw a blue granite crusher at Target. Went back and picked up the last one on the shelf today.

Yeah, luckily the Granite Crusher have just been restocked at Target. When they first came out during the release week of Skylanders: Giants they never got any additional shipment after they'd sold out, until recently. Last I checked they were worth $30 on eBay / Amazon. They'll only get harder to find as days pass.
