I don't know if its been mentioned previously, but he shows up just like Series 1 version in Spyro's Adventure. In Giants he shows up purple as Royal Double Trouble, but this way at least you can do the original 32 heroic challenges with him.

He's a series 2 so of course he works like the other s2 in ssa. Just like l-se, slam and any other variant original they don't show different in ssa cause it isn't coded for it but they'll still work.

I assumed L Stealth Elf wouldn't work in the first game...I figured the reposed Stealth Elf would work in Spyro....I guess the new Legendaries can do all the heroic challenges then!

They should be able to do them all eventually on Giants. Just have to wait until the rest of them are out.
