When my friend places it on the portal it says take figure off portal and won't read it. She already used Series 2 Slam Bam in game. Why won't it work?

Tell your friend to contact Activision Assist on Facebook and have it replaced. My Series 1 Slam Bam works just fine in Giants.

The fact other versions of Slam Bam have already been used is moot. You should theoretically be able to scan in an infinite number of Slam Bam's or any other figure into the game. It could be an issue with that specific figure or one with the portal. I would recommend trying to scan in another figure if that figure works you will need to reset the chip in Slam Bam otherwise try repositioning the portal checking for wire connections or replacing batteries.
