Hey guys,
My fiance and I are relatively new to Skylanders. We discovered the original game in October right before the second one came out, so we are still building our collection of Skylanders. I love the game, I've never really been a gamer (especially on my fiance's Xbox) so the co-op mode is great for us because I am still learning. But I especially really love collecting the toys. (Hi, I'm turning 27 years old in 2 weeks and I'm obsessed with Skylander toys, yes.)

ANYWAY. As we are making Christmas lists and buying presents, I was just wondering who your favorites are - for either of the games. Additionally - for the figures that were released in both s1 and s2, would you choose one version over the other? I know my fiance wants Prism Break and I can't decide which version to get him! Maybe lightcore? Are the lightcore versions fun to play with? We haven't had any yet.

I think so far my favorites are Whirlwind and Flashwing. My fiance really seems to like Stump Smash and Flameslinger. I'd really just like to know who you like & why - or who you really don't like. Thanks!

This one is hard because some people like the figures for their design and some like them because they are awesome in the game. I would suggest to check out some youtube videos of figures reviews to help get an idea of how the characters work in the game.

Agreed.

A few of my favorites include Ignitor, Chop Chop, and Terrafin. I'm a sucker for swords and armor though, so Ignitor and Chop Chop earned their top spot before I even played them. Terrafin, on the other hand, was a reminder of something from my childhood (all those Street Shark VHS tapes lol), so being able to re-live that in a way was pretty neat, and his game-play is pretty cool in my opinion!

Also, as far as I've been informed, if you don't own the Series 1 figure and there is a Series 2 available, it would be better for you to just grab the Series 2. The Series 2 can swap Upgrade Paths, while the Series 1 are locked into the branch you choose.

It's all about factors. I love Chop Chop as well because he's a skeleton with a sword. I hate Chop Chop because in Nightmare mode I get facerolled while playing any melee character.

I can safely I love and hate just about every single character.

Series 2 characters are able to switch paths allowing for increased options and play choices for the player. They also gain the use of WowPows which is an extra power specific to the character that can only be used by S2 figures. They also unlock heroic challenges in S:G.

Lightcores are cool and when you place them in the level for the first time they have a special attack that destroys all near by enemies (similar to when a character levels up). They also unlock heroic challenges in S:G but cannot change paths and do not have WowPow.

Characters from the first game (all have green base) can be played in both S:SA and S:G but do not switch paths, have WowPow or unlock HC's in S:G.

It is really hard to predict what characters an individual is going to like because part of the charm of the game is they play so differently and you won't know who's play style you like until you have tried it.

Here are a few suggestions:

Dinorang- A really fun range character, not a lot of fun for character that like short range melee and needs to watch out for rush attacks in pvp only available as an S:SA figure. (he might like)

Zap- Has his own personality and unique play style those that favor him like his Slime Serpent path that leaves a controlled path of electrified ick in his wake only available as an S:SA figure will have a series 2 variant released with Hot Dog and the Catapult right after Christmas. (he might like)

Stealth Elf: Amazing at close melee fights and devastates all around her many view her as one of the strongest figures in game. Can be bought as S:SA or in Legendary format at Toys R US. The Legendary format has slightly higher stats but not significant enough to notice while playing. The legendary version gets all the advantages a series 2 model would have. (you might like)

Popfizz- A fun character that is diverse in play style. Since Popfizz is a new character he cannot play in S:SA (you might like)

Swarm: One of the faster giants with his flying talent utilized and is a nice balance between short and long range attacks. This is a Giant and can only be played in S:G (you might like)

Prism Break is currently only available in two formats either the S:SA version or lightcore. There will be a series 2 version released at an unknown time after Christmas. Moves on the slower side but has a nice ranged attack. Not many people claim he is there favorite character but I have never heard anyone state they don't like him either. Nice figure to add to any collection. If you were to get him before the S2 is released get the Lightcore version it can do everything the other version can plus the figure looks neat while lit up on the portal.
