Unlocking Bought Character Doesn't Reimburse Gems? [CLOSED]

Tried entering Terrafin's code, but wasn't refunded gems. Is this normal/expected behavior?

If this is not how the game works, I'm very disappointed. It should be consistent across all mobile game experiences in the franchise, don't you think?

I didn't get refunded the gems either... I put both S1 and S2 in.
