Whats the story behind the lightcores?
Or the reason they have awesome powers and light up.
Did they find like a miagical box or something?

She uses the powers of Undead, not from The Darkness.

Activision didn't make the lightcore have wow pows or switching paths so those kids had to buy the S2 as well. So Activision managed to sell 3 of the same figure.

At least they do SOMETHING. Better than pearl/gold/silver/metallic/ice/sparkle/gitd stuff.

Those are targeting the hardcore collectors - and honestly, the STORES, who pay to have that exclusive rare "reskin" to drive more customers into the store - as opposed to the players. Doesn't always work, seeing the large number of "gummy red" Drill Sergeants still at my local Wal*Mart around here ...

I agree, though, especially for the Lightcores that WON'T be in limited quantities, adding a gameplay gimmick will improve their sales. Which is why I'm rather surprised they don't do anything in the iOS games. You can register them, they'll be added to your "collection" via a glowing crown, but they provide no other features except for a small energy boost for the registration in Lost Islands.

Every little bit helps. If the Lightcore characters (registered through ActiVate) gave a once-a-game "Lightcore Detonation" ability in Cloud Patrol (tap an icon on the lower left to destroy all enemies and projectiles on the stage you're on), unlocked a special combat ability to purchase for that character in Battlegrounds (you'd need the Lightcore figure for that, the Platinum Chest wouldn't give you instant access to it), and gave a registration bonus of 100 GEMS in Lost Islands, they'd be more likely to sell.

Otherwise, a player (instead of a collector) would say, "Why would I want a LIGHTCORE Jet-Vac? I've already got one, if I get a second, I'd get the Legendary version for the Giants stat boost and alternate character in the IOS titles."


The more different features a particular figure provides, the more "value" it will hold overall.

meh. more ways to get money. will be getting lc shroomy, though, as i just want him, not the battle pack.
