I've seen the "back of the box" list, and it indicates that more is unlocked than just what is listed. Can someone say exactly what it unlocks and, in your opinion, whether it is worth the ~$23? (because a standard video game is ~$50, S:SA was $70, so a portal + 3 figures is ~$20, the app is $7, leaving ~$23 for the chest.)

Kinda weird way of breaking it down. Value is the the whole thing since you can't purchase half of the things by themselves.

Anyway, I like the chest. Gets you a butt load of in-game items, 4x XP, and 10x coins (as it says on the news thread)

Yes, 4x XP, 10x coins, and the "butt load of in-game items." What are the "butt load of in-game items" (or as some descriptions say "and much more")? Just health potions and bombs? There's the item bag that lets you carry the maximum number of items, I know also, but I'd like specifics over generalizations. It doesn't have to be itemized (i.e. it doesn't have to be listed as "50 health potions, 40 bombs" etc., it can just say "health potions, bombs, ..."), but I would like more specificity, which google searches do not provide nor does Activision.

Popped it on the portal just now, all of the xp and coin bonuses took effect immediately. Also unlocked all 6 item slots (you start with just 2), and gave me a bunch of each item type (health potion, elixir, anvil, dynamite, bomb, and sword)

Thanks, jdavplay. I guess those six items are the only ones in game, and, with all six item slots unlocked, you can take all items into every battle?

There's lightning, poison, speed/attack potion and defense potion too. Chest gives you a bunch of each.

also the chest unlocks the items so you can buy more with coins (free in game) if you do not use the chest you have to pay real $ to unlock each type of item if you use the chest it unlocks all cash shop content to be bought with coins (exept skylanders and skylander upgrades).

Skylander upgrades? I saw something about these being discounted for the release of the game. Can you tell me what these are? Is the discount worth rushing to get the game before it ends?

That is flat out wrong. You do not have to pay ANY real money. You unlock with gems. I am only on level 3 and I have already earned enough gems to unlock everything but the final two item slots (totally unnecessary anyway). I haven't bought any gems you earn them just like coins.

The discount is just a lower price on buying the two locked abilities of each character. No big deal unless they are planning to triple the cost or something.

PS: I currently have 10 items, so if the chest only unlocks six, you will still have to pay gems to unlock the rest. I assume more items will be found as I progress in the game or with future updates.
