Unfortunately, there are a number of indications that we are not going to see the release of Wave 3 this weekend. Bear in mind, these are negative indices, not positive ones. I am not privy to any special knowledge, I am simply drawing on clues we have seen in the past, and things we are seeing now.

First - Today I went into TRU on my way to work to get Battlegrounds, and low and behold, I saw a bin full of Legendary Stealth Elf! I grabbed two and went to pay. The woman working the counter told me that they could not sell them until the 22nd, and called her manager. The manager looked at it and apologized to me about it. So when she went to put them back, I swiped one and . . . just kidding, I would never do that. I told her I understood, and asked her to check in the back for me to see if there were any new Skylanders (wave 3). She told me the R Zone guy would take care of it, and he looked, and came out and told me there were none. I told him it was ok if he couldn't sell them, I just didn't want to waste my time coming back on Black Friday if they were not going to be there. He replied that there was no hold on anything besides L-Stealth Elf as far as he knew, so if he had wave 3, he would sell it to me right then. I highly doubt they would deliver all the L Stealth Elves for hold until Black Friday, but not wave 3 at the same time.

Second - No ebayers. Say whatever else you want about people who sell figures ahead of time on ebay, when we see something like "X figure IN HAND!" it alway means that figure is coming out in the next couple weeks. We have seen that ahead of every wave release without fail, but still nothing yet. I suppose it's possible that Activision security was just so good this time that nothing got out, but I highly doubt it.

Third - Skylanders feature at the front of TRU. A manager I know told me that this Saturday they are breaking down the Skylanders feature in front and putting up Barbie, and then the following Saturday (Dec 2.), taking down Barbie and putting back Skylanders. He said that putting a feature up front is often accompanied by something big, like a new figure release.

Now maybe I am wrong. Like I said, these are negative indications, and I was told by the R Zone guy that checked for me it was not beyond the realm of possibility new Skylanders could come in Wednesday night. However, it seems really unlikely that no TRU in the nation seems to have wave three for hold, when almost all of them have L Stealth Elf. (I live on the East Coast, and we are usually the last to get stuff, so if we have her, pretty much everyone does.) Anyway, I guess we will see, but it does not look good.

Wow I've never seen TRU have one product go on twice as the main display in the store. I'm really skeptical about wave 3 because the fact that wave 2 is not fully out yet. I could be wrong though. It could be that the wave 1 merchandise finally stopped selling to a point that the stores are only ordering a little of wave 2. If you think of it, it would be a disaster to release a new wave considering so little wave 2 has been out. Unless Actisivion is trying to create a shortage again to make sure the hype stays in place all the way through the holidays and even after it.

I'm honestly a little relieved. These things are expensive, and maintaining a full collection is unnecessary money over an already pricey holiday season. I'm sure they'll be out in December though, so disregard what I just said and imagine the same scenario as Black Friday but with amplified chaos.

Well I'm betting that after Christmas would be a good time to get rid of some extra figures that I kept from the first game to regain some of the money I've used for Giants. The only good thing about it is I've not decided to keep multiples this time (for the S2) so the damage to my wallet is not that bad. Unfortunately Black Friday is still to come so I might be eating those words! LOL

Yeah, it's not looking good. We haven't seen any of the things we normally see before a new wave. Still, I recommend everyone stop by their local TRU tomorrow and ask about wave 3. I know I plan to. Who knows, anything is possible.

I'm kinda hoping we won't see them till January. Mainly due to my wallet needing a break. The holidays are pricey enough as is, on their own, much less to have MORE skylanders to buy D:

You know you don't HAVE to buy them right when they come out. Even if you don't want to, doesn't mean the rest of us don;t want the opportunity to get them sooner.

I know I don't but being as my town is TERRIBLE about keeping stock (I live in a major city)- so if you snooze you loose.
But I didn't say no one shouldn't want them early, I was just stating the reason why I hope they don't come out till January. I'm still not done with Wave 1 and 2 (I'm behind due to wanting to get them all...perfectly reasonable explanation as to why I hope they hold off till after the holidays). Not lacking new chars, just the rest of the Series 2 of both waves that I've yet to snag D: I hate being a completionist sometimes....

Lol I hope that wave 3 does come out though.... Because its to late to start planning Thanksgiving :/

Actually, that would be pretty great if they hold off on the release. I'm all for collecting them all, but it'd be nice to have a bit of breathing room before the next wave comes out. This way, more people can get the older characters, no one has to rush and get them all at once (even if we DO want to go and get them all in one go and not have to worry about them later), and it helps to prolong the longevity of the line (since we'll probably have like..what...2-3 more waves?)

No Spyroflame, the line suffered last time because of too long a time between releases. If you personally want to wait, that's fine, no one is stopping you and the figures will be there waiting, but the rest of us shouldn't have to wait, and it won;t hurt you in any way for everyone who wants all the figures to get them earlier.

I still have yet to get Swarm and Pop Fizz who are the only characters I want and don't have.....I also wish to extend the release of wave 3 to december since there is like nothing I can ask for for my B-day. It might as well be Eye Brawl (or Thumpback, whichever comes first....) and Hot Dog (to end my list of skylanders that I want from the entire Giants figure release span....)

Here is my feelings on this.


I do not think we will see anything this weekend. I think the orginial plan was to have wave 2 come out sometime in mid november. Due to whatever reasons they released it right away. I think we will see what some people are calling the other half of wave 2 or wave 3 sometime in early to mid december. Probably more to early to give more time for holiday shopping.

I kind of fall in the middle as far as putting out the waves. I think they need to spread it out, but not as long as they did last time. Have all the waves out by early spring march/april and be done!

Bazinga also feels bad for me if wave 3 doesn't come out.

It's all good. They will be paying me about 40 bucks a hour to sit and play my vita. I'm not complaining.

I.have to wait for like 3 hours outside of TRU with my mom and our group of skylander fanatics. So it's not good fir me cuz that means no Thanksgiving dinner. Poor ol me

My folks are three states away, and I only get Thursday and Friday off (ok, and the weekend, so 4 days total, but it's a 15 hour drive), so just a quiet Turkey Day here for me. Unless I decide to go to Black Friday anyway on the off chance wave 3 does come in. I think I have a problem.

Mm..I have to disagree. I think if they would have had all the figures out for SSA at once, attention to it would have disappeared before the start or this year. With waves, you have new things coming out all the time, which helps keep attention to the series over a long period of time though.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying they *shouldnt* release them all at once (i'd probably end up buying them all anyways haha) but the way they have it with a release every few months is perfect at least in my opinion.

Though no, I definitely don't want to have a real long wait. I think between Wave 2 ands Wave 3 for SSA was like 5 months or something right? Not that long. If they can do it, December for 3, Feb/March for 4 and May/June for the last ones would be alright.

The last wave for S:SA came out around June, I think that was a bit too late. I think last wave should be March or April. I am sure that they are already working on Skylanders 3, so you get the last of the figures out in April, ride the momentum from those until June then start building up Skylanders 3.

And goodness OP why does it seem like your raging at people who wish to have Activision and TFB wait to release these things? Its your right to want them now, and ours to hope to get them later...

You might want to look up "raging", Dunkin. Pointing out that it won't affect anyone that wants to wait to buy new Skylanders if the rest of us get them now doesn't exactly fit the definition of that word. I think you are getting a little defensive there for no reason. And honestly, why do you want Activision to wait to release the new ones? Like I just said, it wouldn't affect you at all if they released all the figs now. Those of us that wanted them could buy them, and they would still be there waiting whenever you are ready. That's the one thing I really don't understand. You would free to give your wallet all the breathing room you want, and the rest of us could buy them when we feel like it. That would be a win/win situation.
