Which S2 characters are least improved over their S1 counterparts? [CLOSED]

I'm thinking about seeing which series one characters my Best Buy will have at $2.99 for black Friday. I'd rather have series two, but $7 per figure is a lot of savings. The S1 not in S2 are no brainer buys.

The characters I want to get as series 1 are characters that have unexciting wow-pows and that have "clearly better" paths so I won't feel like I'm missing much besides their corresponding heroic challenges.

Kinda redundant to say this, but the characters I will consider buying as series two are the ones with two fun paths I'd want to be able to switch between and the ones where their wow pow makes them much more fun to play as.

Battle mode viability is of no importance to me.

I own S2 Slam Bam, Double Trouble, and Cynder.
I own S1 Drobot and Whirlwind.
My other skylanders are newlanders or "series 1 only"

Any opinions or a link to somewhere this has been explained before will be appreciated! I'm looking to buy up to about fifteen S1 at $2.99 if there is a good selection.

Thanks!

For three bucks? You could always just buy the S1s, try them, and if you don't like the character, don't bother with the series 2.

Glad heroic challenges are gone. Imagine doing 165 per skylander. That's 27225 challenges. No thank you.

I would still buy the series 2 for them. It's just me as a collector and gotta have them all. smilie Now, I think that yes they are the same but they are different at the same time. S2 have Wow Pows. Which make a big difference, also the S2 have the ability to switch a path. This is all going off of the fact that you probably wont be able to find all the S1 for three bucks, I'm guessing.

Heck, I was thinking of maybe heading to Best Buy to get some and customize them. That's a steal no matter what. If they have characters who didn't get reposes, you could buy em and flip em for a little bit and make some money regardless.

I think you'll probably honestly want to just get those guys that didn't get a repose and some of the last ones who were uncommon-rare (as in, Camo, Warnado and Wham-Shell)

Sonic Boom's Wow Pow is strictly underwhelming. Biggest boost to the whole character is baby AI.

Hm... Double Trouble's is only useful in select settings, such as story mode...

Zook's isn't phenomenal either. It's not too different from what you can do with your own mortars and generic aiming, with no extra damage to boot.

Cynder's... well, it's a flying move, and who actually flies as Cynder? Doesn't do much damage either.

All are upgrades, don't get me wrong. There is not an S2 character on the shelves who isn't better than the S1 version in a noticeable way. However, the differences mentioned above are the most minor when compared to truly epic Wow Pows like Hex and Stumpy.

What about Trigger Happy's? It's the one I lack on him, and I rarely hear it discussed.
Cynder has the worst Wow Pow in the game IMO, it's actually a downgrade considering she can no longer Dash out of flight.

Thanks so far, guys.

Zook and Sonic boom are characters I'd like to get. I'll definitely nab Zook's S1. I can rationalize Sonic Boom as the $5 skylander in the three pack if I decide to get Sprocket and Stump Smash, but it's nice to know I won't be missing much if I don't go for the three pack. I don't really want to buy the three pack with Zook because my friend has it, so I have access to those HC's and I'm trying to avoid getting too many duplicates between us.

I'll put low emphasis on S1 Hex and Stump Smash because it sounds like I'll really be missing out on cool stuff.

I thought it was kinda lame that Cynder's wow pow stops flying -> dashing, but I got it anyway for completion's sake because I don't fly with her.

I already got a S2 Double Trouble because I heard both paths were good - so I might enjoy switching between play styles - and his wow pow sounded good, too.

I plan on getting S2 Zook, Gill Grint, and Double Trouble. I already have S2 Cynder and Chop Chop.

Are these good decisions? Or should I choose someone else (I AM getting S2 Zook, though)?
