When do you see yourself being done with this game and needing the next one? [CLOSED]

This game is fun to play. I love how each skylander has their own style of play, and I enjoy seeing their power grow through upgrades.

So...

Drobot hit level 15 and got his gold top hat today. I'm happy and sad. Happy for the achievement, but sad that I'm kinda done with him and should move on. It's a good thing I still have three more skylanders not quite maxxed and six more needing a ton of work. Once I've maxxed them, got all the hats etc., and cleared the game on nightmare mode with three stars on each chapter, I'll be done with it, I suppose.

What level of completion do you go for? When do you see yourself being done with this game and needing the next one?

100% completion, plus all Arena Battles, plus every single purchase, plus every single toy registered, on Easy, Normal, Hard and Nightmare, plus all Heroics on every frikin figure, every upgrade, plus every Quest on every toy, plus 99:99 playtime on everything.
That is when I feel I will put maingame down.

... I have a long way to go.

(I already stopped with the 3DS version, though. smilie )

How, you may wonder? I am a completionist, even with games I hate and despise I have always worked to finishing them. And I like Skylanders: Giants, so I am going to do everything utterly possible in it. smilie
I say, I won't even be wanting the next game after all this as I still have an unquenched thirst for Battle Mode. REMEMBER KIDS, ALWAYS GET THE MOST YOU CAN OUT OF YOUR GAMES.

Oh yeah, and I'll probably just keep going through levels with all my favorite 'Landers. Doing runs of Chapter 8 with Chill, Chapter 9 with Sprocket, and Chapter 15 with Chop Chop are the things I do most in the game when I'm not focusing on getting upgrades. I think sometimes people forget to just sit back and enjoy the environment, you don't need a ton of hidden bonuses to do this. Just get your favorite hero onto your Portal and run through your favorite levels from time to time- it works wonders more than you might think.

I was still playing the first game, the day before giants came out. My goal is to get all the figures fully upgraded and leveled up. After that i will work on finishing all the heroic challenges with them as well as getting their quests done. I will also take regular breaks from character grinding andreplay the levels for the goals and to make shure i find all the items and secrets. I will buy every charm, skystone, battle arena, and heroic challenges. I will try to buy all in-game variants as well as some variant figures that i can find and obtain easily such as GITD cynder and sonic boom, gold flameslinger, and so on.

just missing 7 skylanders.

When I collect all the treasure and max out the characters.

However, that does not mean I need the next one. I'd like a nice break to save up some money because they tried that!

I'll probably be done once I get everything to 15. Right now I'm just going through the newer figures, getting the upgrades and maxing them to 15. S1 Spyro and Stealth Elf are the only 2 that are 15, but I'll probably get all my original game guys up to 15 at some point.

I'm also thinking about going back for the S2 characters and getting enough coins on them to unlock the other path so they're really "fully" complete.

I've already 3 starred everything and completed all the Arena Challenges. I need to save up another 6K though so I can buy the last Charm from Auric. I'm not really sure about getting Skystones though because there doesn't seem to be a definite guide to getting them all.

I usually don't do the Heroics with any character besides S1 Spyro. He's the only character to finish every single one and it makes him in my eyes "stronger" than any other character because personally, the reason I got the games in the first place was because I'm a Spyro fan first.

I also still have Nightmare mode to finish off..maybe I'll 3 star that at some point haha

^ This. 2 million%, minus not wanting the next adventure, and playing Giants 3DS. Didn't bother wit' it, since it's basically copy-and-paste, with obstacles for giants to knock over (Sans Feats of Strength segments).

Even when I'm done, I'm NEVER done. Just like with Pokemon.

On certain occasions, while I train, I put one some different music. It helps speeds things up.

Nibelilt: That's dedication! I will sink extraordinary amounts of time into games when I really like them. Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II got over 2,000 hours of my life. I'm not usually a completionist unless I enjoy just playing the game - that's when I try to drag things out like I am with S:G.

johnsonsteven86: I'm 33 and I prefer bright, colorful, whimsical games to pale, grey, bloody, gritty games any day of the week.

onga999: My friend got me started on S:SA, but I didn't get hooked until he bought Giants. A few weeks later, I caved and bought my own copy of Giants. Your stated goals are the same as mine, (I was lacking detail in my initial post), except I don't plan to get that many more figures. I have ten and will probably not get past fifteen when all is said and done.

Pinkwater: Lazy is fine! This wasn't meant to be a competition. I just like having an idea of how long the experience lasts for everyone.

Hexin_Wishes: Who needs money when we can (hopefully) have another twenty chapters to play, twenty new characters to buy, more arena challenges, another five levels to pass, and maybe get hats with neat passive abilities instead of just stat boosts? smilie

SpyroFlame0487: I'm actually more excited to buy S2 characters (that I don't have S1 versions of) than newlanders because I can enjoy both upgrade paths without resetting the character. I hope that Activision makes that the norm for all figures in the future.

Heirumaru2286: I hope I get that feeling...where I just want to replay levels over and over even when I no longer need money or experience. Knowing me, I doubt it'll happen, though, because I need a carrot on a stick baiting me to do it - like an ultimate purchase that costs 1,000,000 gold and does something ridiculous like let you play levels with all enemies replaced with max level Chompybots.

I need the next one NAO.

Consider myself done when all Glumshanks-san scenes have been seen.

I'll just be coasting on my downloaded videos until the next one is out. Else I get withdrawals.

I'll probably be done with the game for a while once all of the new characters have come out and I can finally sit down and play nightmare mode. For now I've been grinding heroic challenges with the new characters, slowly exploring the levels for stuff I've missed, completing quests with each character, replaying my favourite levels, collecting skystones in the hope to eventually beat Quigly, (which was a brilliant way to extend the game's length by the way) replaying the challenge arenas with everyone, and testing out the old characters in the new game to hear their voice clips and to see if any of them play slightly differently than in the first game. I've actually still got lots to do even though I've beaten the game. Though I'm going to wait until at least Hot Dog comes out before playing the adventure pack levels in Giants. I'm actually kind of glad the adventure pack levels stayed the same, because it's the only way you can play content from the old game with the new characters. I think that's actually pretty cool, and gives you a few extra levels to play as the new guys. Playing Darklight Crypt as Sprocket and Chill is going to be awesome. : ) (Darklight Crypt is still my favourite level out of the entirety of both games.)

Also my dad decided to start playing Skylanders too, so we're currently playing through the first game. He's a truck driver, which means his schedule doesn't allow us to play too often. This is a good thing since it means it will last us a lot longer, and it means when he isn't home I can still play Giants. Both games are certainly getting their money's worth.

Though doing that stupid rescue the owl challenge as Sprocket is something I'm in no hurry to ever do again. smilie

HOLY SCHIKIES!!! I thought I was crazy.

I will probably just leave the game on to do that.
Though, if Universe and the 3DS version count to playtime, then there is actually a chance I may legit clock it with a few out of favorites. I already have over 60 hours on Sprocket, by the way. smilie Darn, I play with her too much, and I haven't even begun much on Battle Mode... Well, I can easily see myself having the 99:99 on her quickly once I finish upgrading all my other toys, right now I'm trying to finish the alternate paths on my S2s, which is far more fun but difficult in Hard(even with the four Wheels of Wealth).
