I think it's no fun waiting for skylanders figures, and I know the US was short on wave 1 figures, and I'm happy about having a now complete wave 2 (my new hot head came in the mail) but it ain't fair to the Europeans and Australians that have to wait another week for wave 2, which America has been gleefully enjoying for the past month (meself included) and with a possible wave 3 tomorrow with the wii u release, will they get their wave 2's and 3's soon? ACTIVISION is being kinda cruel now to everyone outside of America

Tis, the free market system Flashwing. America has the most people who will buy these. So, it makes most sense if you are going to do different release dates to do them in country, that will sell the most and make the most money. Now, one reason we might get them first also might have to do with shipping and some behind the scenes stuff that no average joe would know about.

Also, on the flip side. Europe did get the excluse gitd fright rider.

You can't really use GITD Fright Rider as an abetment to your reasoning when America has gotten GITD Starter Packs, Granite Crusher and is set to get GITD Sonic Boom too, and that's just from this years releases.

The early release of wave 2 comes down to nothing more than greed. Activision's greed on release week sales and the hype generated from so many figures being available early, and the greed of the consumers and scalpers alike with their mentality of must buy all at once/must buy all in stock.

But it is what it is. I have had a month with my wave 1 figures, playing each one after the other and getting full enjoyment out of them before moving on to the next one, and come 29/11 I will have wave 2 to do the same with. I have the thrill of tracking down the figures I need at the end of the month like I did a month ago, and if last years release timing tells us anything I will get to do it all again in January. All the waiting does is extend the amount of time I spend completing my collection and I find that to be worth more than taking home 30 figures in 2 days.

I wasn't trying equate the GITD fright rider to the USA getting wave 2 already. Was just saying that there are little perks. Also, Activision can't be solely to blame. As you said we live in a NOW! NOW! NOW! world these days. Hence the scalpers. If people would spend more time looking for them and waiting a bit, their would not be a need for scalpers.

Also, as I said in my earlier post. I am sure we don't realize what it can take to get the products from Activision to country A, B, and C. Different countries have different rules as far as importing and exporting. Now, should it take a month to get a another wave to Europe? No. However, if you are going to blame one party, need to blame everyone involved.

I was pointing the blame at both the consumer and the distributor, but actually Activision are mainly to blame in this case. I know for a fact that the wave 2 figures are sitting in the delivery centres of various retail companies right now and that they will be sent to their stores by the 26th to allow time for processing on preorders and stock checks etc before the date of sale. But regardless of this they will not go on shelves until the 29th because of the street date, which is set by Activision. You can't blame import standards for a delay in release date.

But like I tried to make it clear before but it seems my point was lost on people, who gives a crap? We get them late because we're not yanks, so what? At least they're coming.

I see your point of view. In your case more of the blame maybe to point at activision. Here in the states though, I think it is spread out more evenly. Consumer, Scalper, and Activision.

Point A. Activision could help on the scalping here in the USA if they would just not but out so many of the crushers or swarm or many of the other ones that are easily available to pick up. Even it out a bit. In the case with Hot Head make him more available and less of the other ones. Not saying less of the other ones where it becomes impossible to find one of them.

Point B. Scalpers could not be so evil. You may have seen a post I put up a few weeks back. I was at a TRU and they had 6 hot heads. This lady went up grabbed all six and turned to this guy and I and said that she would have them up for sale for 35 dollars and free shipping on ebay within an hour. The manager then walked over and told the lady that she could only buy four since she did this same thing last week. Now, I am all for making a dollar. However, these are the type of people that go in hand with Activision making one figure rare, that made/makes Hot Head impossible to find for awhile.

C. The Consumer. Just wait a bit. If people didn't buy them from Ebay, the Scalpers would eventually turn away and not sell them as it would not be profitable for them. Case and point Hot Head, is now going for under 25 dollars at last check. Which is down from the 35-40 dollars, sometimes even more.

This is from my USA point of view. Where everyone just needs to shoulder some blame.

I just thought that the art, which is all I can find, might be different than the actual figure, like with Flashwing.

Luckily I've never been witness to that kind of behaviour, and to be honest if it happened in my store I don't know what I would do. Likely I'd be a total ***** and say 1 per customer lol. Perhaps releasing wave 2 so early in the US was because Activision know people are making a stupid amount of profit from their product and having so many figures out was their attempt at combating this?

I read that post, like I said in a comment regarding it, if I was te manager i would have givin her the opinion to buy 2, and give the others to people that actually want them

Yeah, I think that may have been what they were doing with most figures. However, I think if they can do it for one they can do it for all of them.

... Because Activision.

IMO, Wave Two shouldn't be out anywhere this soon.
If anything and they REALLY wanted to do it I would have given the US and Canada Hot Head(sorry DinoHex), the UK and European areas Flashwing, and Aus and NZ Sprocket first each- as in from day one- to make a somewhat equal release that also promotes friendly regional trading.

Either way...

... Because Activision.

I'm still enraged that the US got Wave Two so soon plus tons of restock on it and if they get Wave Three this month I'm done with this rubbish, but it'd be the same if anyone else did too. Not that I wouldn't have loved getting stuff so soon but look at it from the other side... It... Sort of kills my intrest in hunting or waiting, honestly. The only reasons I'm still strong with this game: 1. I have lost my receipts. 2. Sprocket. 3. The game is better. But I feel far, far less interested in looking for everything now. It's... Just... I guess this boils down to personal hard old opinion with a pinch of bias. Either way, Activision have just spoiled the releases this time from making so much so easily get go available. smilie At the rate they're going they may as well completely dump the Wave system.

they won't stop releasing in waves as it is a guaranteed way to extend the life of the game. 12 months after the original game released and still there are people trying to find wham-shell, marketing and sales people love this sort of thing.

as for the distribution in general, the usa market is huge and allows easy distribution compared to overseas markets. the population of california and texas is equal to the total population of the uk.

i'm uk based and just to clarify gitd fright rider was available in australia first and then europe (including uk and holland). usa is getting gitd sonic boom

in europe gnarly tree rex was bundled with the ps3 costing $350 while in the usa he was bundle with the wii costing only $150.

overseas pricing and distribution sucks but i don't see it ever changing.

#26 Posted: 16:44:14 17/11/2012
I do believe the PS3 is being released with a gnarly tree rex in the USA also. I am not sure of the price. You also have to look at the general price of the system. The Wii is less expensive and is going to dead with in a year. So, that is the reason for the price difference. I don't think it has to do anything with Activision in this situation.

#27 Posted: 00:20:58 18/11/2012
I still don't see the point in complaining about it, like I said before it is what it is. It shouldn't be, because everything is made in and shipping from China in the first place, but we can't change anything. The fact of the matter is that if any of us from outside the US want wave 2 early there are avenues to pursue (eBay, amazon). Our opinion of how they manage the distribution of their product is not going to change a thing because Activision will do what they need to do to make the most profit they can.

When they release the ps3 to the US it should be around $30-$50 more than the retail price of the 12gb model like it is here.

In terms of keeping a happy and loyal fanbase, it was an incredibly stupid move on Activision's part. Hopefully they won't do it again now that they've seen how many people it not only pissed off, but how many consumers in other countries it confused. Nearly every time I went to a Skylanders Giants section I overheard some parent or some kid talking about how they couldn't find Hothead, Sprocket or Flashwing.
