Here are the steps:

1. Make sure you have Hot Head

2. Make sure he's fully upgraded, WITH Hot Rod Soul Gem

3. Use the Hot Rod on Drill-X's Drill arm, and "rub" against it.

4. Rinse and repeat, but watch out for enemies and lasers.

It drains his life faster than everyone else! Literally beats his first form in 5 seconds!

It's easier just to use lighting rods grand lighting attack on him it takes him out in seconds.

dosent matter if your not reckless and actually have skill

EDIT: and you can see the attacks coming you can get out of the attack buy letting go so its not really and less vulnrable than the hot rod attack, and plus theres easier ways

lighting rod has 750 at max and even at 500 you need to be insane to loose all of that

Shroomboom on Paramushroom Promotion using Self-Slingshot, it does amazing damage.

^Shroomboom's self slingshot on parashroom path (mines only level 10) does around 165 normally and around 210 for a critical hit, its amazing how strong it is.

Also I did Drill X really quickly as Zook on his Cactus path, it took next to no time.

By the way has anyone tried doing Drill sergeants personal quest it's quite easy

smilie Fools! I've had it up to here with your incompetence! Actually no, even higher..up to HERE!

Soloed him with Sprocket today. Super easy, in the first round as his smash tosses around the projectiles, let up the turrets(they damage as he's still throwing), then go in and smash his drill as hard as possible with the wrench. Same strategy for wave two, only you set up the turrets as the drill is landing, and just use Mines 'O' Plenty more often than the other combos. Round three is a bit more tricky to handle than the other two, but if you set up her turrets and all at the right time, you still eliminate him easily. You should beat him in two parts every round using my strategy. I think every Skylander, or at least most of them, have some sort of way to counter Drill-X.

Most characters with ranged attacks are good against him. I think Sprocket is especially good against him as well because the Turrets can endure a hit from any of his attacks, last a long time, and automatically blast him for you, you barely need to do any setup whatsoever.

Best skylanders to defeat him: EVERYONE

smilie Just leave three concoction minions, they'll help you against enemies, and transform into a Beast
smilie : Just fly and keep blasting
smilie : Auto-Slingshot, that's all
smilie : Protect you in a corner with Ice Blocks, and then just keep throwing Ice Javelins
smilie : Leave a Crystal Lighthouse and that's all
smilie Build two Turret Gun-O-Matic's, they'll help yo against enemies, and then just run away leaving mines
smilie Melee, that's all
smilie Just keep Comet Dashing

smilie : Just keep Shockwave Slaming
smilie: Three options:
One, just keep Machine Fingerguning and then press Attack 3 to fire off rocket-powered homing fists
Two, run away launching rockets
Three, I-Beam

Strangely, it's harder to do it quicker on higher difficulties. You have to take out the enemy swarms quickly AS WELL as Drill-X, and only a very affective fighter as well as a runner can do that.

Last night, I hosted my Hard Mode time attack run for this chapter on Youtube, using Bash (Series 1; I'm in the UK so Series 2 isn't out yet). Cleared in less than 7 minutes too, though I know for sure I'd be much faster if I EVER got that Series 2 Hex and her Wow Pow that everyone really loves... smilie

I actually think Drill-X is even easier than the final boss- at least they can do harmful damage to you... Drill X summons pretty easy minions and goes down fairly fast...

I use Flameslinger down his flame path and use the supernova for defeating enemies....Even though i have S1 Bash down his rolling path but i think that Bash is dead to me now....Of course Flashwing so easily replaced his spot in my heart....AND she's fast too!

If you are a giant in the first round, you can pick up the barrels and use them against him. That destroys your cover though.
