Anyone have this thing? Do the Lightcore figures light up when placed on their element (and not on the Portal)?

there is no RF tech inside it at all. the portal just sits on top of it. it dos light up but thats all it dos. it looks pretty cool but i passed on it when i found out that it needs batteries.

That's really a shame. It'd be nice if there was a way to make them glow without having to have them on the portal with the game on.

I imagine it wouldn't have cost that much more and it would've been an essential purchase.
