I'm sure no one really knows for sure the level of rarity these figures have/are. I mean the chase figures (Like the Golds/Silvers/GITD/Crystal/Stone etc) are said to be 1 in every 50 boxes. Which would make me assume pretty rare, but I'm not 100% sure.

Stores usually get like 5-6 boxes each shipment don't they? So, you'd be lucky to find one anywhere in your town let alone at one store. That doesn't even take into account that if there's something coming in, there's a high chance an employee or someone will take it before even putting them on the floor..so you'd end up never seeing a variant at all.

What about Granite Crusher? Is he rare or is he like the legendaries?

Eventually, he *should* be like the legendary ones. But right now he's pretty rare, unless you got one on Day 1. Target should be getting some in, and I think someone posted about them being available on target's website.

The only variant I've ever seen in stores is a gold flameslinger - and a GameStop employee was holding it for herself. :I

Pretty rare. Never seen one in person myself, other than the GID starter packs in Wal-Marts now.

To be fair I may have employee advantage since I work on the non food department of my store and Granite Crusher is the only one I saw and they were just on the shelf waiting for me but I must admit I do check the boxes when they come in

This might go without saying, but rarity is really based on many things. Most of my EBgames (Gamestop in USA) around here got a handful of figures in for S:SA and even now for S:G, therefore none of them have ever seen a variant. On the other hand, each major wave at Wal-mart they had boxes upon boxes that took hours to unpack. So rarity is obviously relative to how much stock a store gets. I didn't happen to catch onto variants until almost the very end of S:SA, but I was lucky enough to find several GITD figures at several Wal-mart stores over a month. In fact, I'm not bragging when I say one time I walked in and scored 5 GITD Zap figures which I imagine is hard to top (got a photo somewhere). I used them to trade for other variants, and gave one to my 3 year old daughter. On the other hand, I found a gold Drill Sergeant twice at my local TRU express....where they get very very little quantity of figures. I guess it really just boils down to luck, but one thing I suggest to people who are hunting variants is to make as many contacts as possible at places. I've got a small network of people who will contact me when new shipments come, or even set stuff aside. One other piece of advice, even if it takes a long time it pays to stand and watch them unpack the boxes on the floor
