I got giants for the ps3 but I'm saving it for Christmas for my kids. I was wondering about the 3ds version and if it is any good. I was thinking about picking it up for my self before Christmas. Does any one know if it is good? Do the giants look cool? Is it longer than the first one? Please if someone could hook me up with some details so I can decide.

levels are bigger.. but somehow it doesnt feel longer

getting 3 stars on every level seems to be harder in general.

using fresh characters (level 1) will make it more fun, using level 10's from start will make it allot easier.

special versions dont show up in the collection on the 3ds. (GITD Cynder and Fright Rider)

Fright Rider is actually overpowerd in 3DS, pop fizz (punch) its a bit tricky.

better than most platform games.

If you liked the first 3DS game you'll probably like this one too. The gameplay is very similar to the first game and it has a different story to the console version of Giants as well. I'm not sure if this game is longer than the first game as I'm not far into it but I'm enjoying it so far.

Anyone know what upgrades characters get for levels 11-15 for this. I've heard of a luck boost but wonder what that is.

All around... Meh
Also, it doesn't feel longer because it ISN'T longer, I clocked 100% in 11 hours on both of them.

Story is terrible: it gets crammed in your face a lot, but it isn't enjoyable at all- honestly, just skip it as much as you can.
Platforming is decent: most of the levels, and the hub, and the game itself, lack an immersive to explore atmosphere, but you do need to explore them, yet there isn't any difficult section whatsoever-most stuff is hidden behind really obvious Gates rather than being difficult to discover and even behind those the jumps are very simple even without glides.
Combat is okay: The combat in itself would be fine but the challenge isn't even there, Coins are so ridiculously generous- it takes about 60 to revive a Skylander but in most levels even doing badly would nab around 200 at a time, so you NEVER worry about needing to retry a level, and even with low level Skylanders you'll have trouble dying because the AI has been dumbed a ton.

It's worth a spin but it's not as good as people say, it's definetly worse than the first.

Obviously from someone who's expecting way too much from kid games.
Granted Nibelilt, if t hat's your profession, you get 'nuff respect.

However,
I can say I've been playing Giants on the 3DS way more than the first game.
Keeping it simple, I'll say there is a lot less "stress" to get stuff done, and you can just mess around with it.
So, you will enjoy the game I think.

That whole timed thing in the first one kinds shyed me away from it.
Unfortunately for dark Spyro I had to buy like 3 copies of the game for the family.
Not this time for punch Bobcat.

Get it, play it, keep Punch Pop Fizz, sell when done.

I honestly thought the first game on the Wii was really mediocre. Take what you want from my opinions.
Besides, why can't I expect a family game rather than a kid's game? smilie
IMO this game needed stress, cause there isn't a whole lot of enjoyment from 3 Starring and it isn't very hard otherwise. If the first game was just a platformer and it lacked the time limits, I would have said the same thing, the time limits were what made you really need to focus on everything, and you needed to beat up enemies for clocks, but that slowed you down, but otherwise you wouldn't have enough time, but in this game, mnnnyeh... There isn't any challenge, but the main game is not that fun. But again, you're taking this from someone who likes Universe almost as much as the console game... Black sheep of opinions... Booooooooooooooooo...
Not that I don't think a platformer can't be good without stress- Super Mario Galaxy 2 is my favorite game of all time- but Giants 3DS really fails to excel or be great at anything really, the level design is blah, and it totally lacks polish. It's only plagued with problems since the actual platforming itself is terrible, in my opinion, though. It could have survived with the level of action it had now if the platforming was good, but it's really not, it's not challenging and it isn't fun to just explore levels because the concepts are plain. And there isn't that much to explore anyway. To sum up my opinion: unbearable story, plain platforming, generous combat.

Again, spoken like someone who has been in the game (videogames) for some years.
But like many of us (adults with kids and no time), rather than get into all of those 'great platformer' specifics, bottom line:
The kids like it, keeps them out of our hair, and the government won't come after us for letting them play MA or NC 17 games.
