Like many people I can't call Skylanders Spyro due to all the interchangeable charactersh, even if one has his name and looks like him. I recall an old rumor saying that Spyro would get his own game if Skylanders did well, but I wonder if it did too well and has now, for lack of a better term, replaced him.
So what do you think? Will we ever see a real Spyro game again?

I would LOVE to see another Spyro game. Maybe Skylanders 3 will be Spyro centric? I am actually VERY dissapointed in the fact that Skylanders Giants appears to be trying to separate Spyro from the figurehead position.

With Skylanders being so successful, it's unlikely to happen for many years.

I joined this website because of Skylanders, but I think that bringing Spyro back would be great.

As they said, Skylanders will be around for sometime.

However, the possibility of Spyro centric spinoffs with gameplay based on older titles could be something to bring up to TFB. At least he's the star in the novels and merchandising. I'd dare say he's more popular as he is now than he ever was, star or not.

I was thinking that when the current Skylanders formula gets dull, they could make games centered on one of the Skylanders characters. They could be spin offs of Skylanders about special missions only that character could do or they could be about thier backstories (which i'd find more interesting). Spyro would be among them if this happened and maybe the most popular would become its own series or the most popular characters would be in one game, r they'd keep going with more than one character's spin off.

I'd bet it'd be a series about overpowered characters.

I would like the think that maybe one day they'll give him his own game again. I grew up with the old ones. Would be great to have some like that again.

Regardless though I still love skylanders, its brought me hope. lol. But I will agree, if they do decide, it won't be for quite some time...skylanders is doing too well right now, so expect it after the newness of this dies.

Then I'm guessing you can't call the final Legend of Spyro game a Spyro game either, Huh? That game had interchangable playable characters too (even if its only between 2 in that game, but still, its the same concept, just on a MUCH larger scale in skylanders)

well they are planning to create another game in 2017 but its only a rumor.

After Insomniac gave up Spyro, they said there would be no more Spyro games.
After the "sub-par" PS2 Spyro games, people said Spyro was done.
After Legend of Spyro, people said there would be no more Spyro games.

So will there be another dedicated Spyro game after this Skylanders franchise? Of course not, what makes you think that? [/sarcasm]

I don't but not for the reason you're thinking. Yes it had two characters, but its still closer to an actual Spyro game than Skylanders, even if Skylanders is far better and more similar to the true Insomniac Spyro than LOS. It's closer to being an actual Spyro game because story wise he is the main character, plus you can beat the game 100% with just Spyro; you don't really HAVE to use Cynder except for a few minutes to uperate a switch or pull a raft etc. Spyro 3 had 5 playable characters including Hunter and it is the epitomy of true Spyro because Spyro is still the main focus even if you NEED the other characters to get 100%, AND it has all the elements of Classic Spyro.

Spyro was never that great. The games were ok. Since Skylanders has been kicking butt, I doubt a Spyro game will be made for a long time.

LOS is just Spyro and Sparx who're completely OOC running around in an OOC world. As far as I'm concerned, it's just a revamp of Spyro, as is Skylanders.

Activision downright SAID if Skylanders sold well, they make a true to form Spyro game. Unfortunately, that was a lie, but they'd probably screw it up anyway.

Well I like Skylanders and not Spyro, so the Spyro fading thing doesn't have much impact on me >__<; but for the sake of his fans, maybe hopefully they'll get another one up and going.

Spyro need his only game series back. <<
But Skylanders is more a Spyro game as TLOS ever was.
It's very similar to the Insomniac games.
