my copy of Skylanders Giants just arrived. Its the Glow in the Dark Cynder one.
Is it normal that my portal is kind of translucent now?

Yes. Plug it in and see, the effect is awesome. The one you got is a thousand times cooler than the plain portal, which ships in non-GitD bundles. Moreso than Cynder, the portal you have is the reason to buy that bundle.

God, this portal is so epic!

When you play for a while, then let it turn automatically...turn of the lights, and IT GLOWS!!!!. The light systems from the portal actually illuminates the glowing core, and bottom ring, so you don't have to put it in direct light. Only if you want the glow to glow brighter, and last longer, would you expose it to direct light for about say, 40-45 minutes

Also, Wal-Mart not only has the GITD starter pack, they have the GITD strategy guide! The Skylanders Giants Logo, The Giants themselves, AND the Skylanders underneath them; on the cover, will glow!

The Elemental symbols on the cover, and backcover will also glow!

The new portal is awesome.

I didn't know the whole portal would glow until I cut the lights off after I played for about an hour. The lights in the portal will give it a faint charge, but you can really charge it up in direct light and it gets bright. As for Cynder, yeah the quality isn't that great, but she'll be in a single pack later so there's no reason to not get the Starter Pack because of the quality of the one figure, and miss out on a variant.

I have to agree. The GITD Cynder is mehtastic, but the portal itself was worth buying that pack. Contemplating picking up a second set so I can mod the extra portal as a room decoration Kidding.. but.. not really... o.O

Hmm...I'm waiting for the Wii U game, so I guess I won't get this special portal....but I want the 3ds game too. Does the 3ds portal have the same effect described above?

Not to mention, the actual portal glows in the dark a little bit, and some good painted GITD Cynders look great glowing!
