This was partially being discussed in another topic, BUT I NEED some clarification and decided to create a topic specific to Lightcore packaging variations.

So... which Lightcore packaging is the norm? By looking at eBay right this minute, it appears that a LARGER font and NO catchphrase is the norm for Jet-Vac? I don't see a single Jet-Vac on eBay that has the smaller font with it's catchphrase.




HOWEVER... I do see a split of Large Font, no catchprase VS. Smaller font with catchphrase when I search for LC Prism Break and Drobot for example.





Anyone who can clarify this PLEASE???

Every LightCore I've seen has the large font, as well as every ad for them.

I think the only way to get the clarification is to wait until further LC characters are released and see how they are printed up. So far I have not seen any LC's with the catchphrases on them at all, and that's between the hundred or so we got in at my work and the ones I have seen on the shelves of every retailer in my city. With wave 2 as yet unreleased here I would guess that however Jet-Vac comes to us is the standard.

I agree that the LARGE FONT, NO Catchphrase appears to be the norm and that most if not all advertisements picture them this way.

So... the Small font with NO Catchphrase are THE PACKAGING ERRORS then?

My guess is, since I'm seeing significantly more restock of the Lightcore packages with catchphrases is that the large font versions possibly denotes earlier print runs of the Lightcore figures. I bought all my Lightcores the first available sale day that I'd seen them at TRU and they all happen to have large font (I didn't even notice until I saw it mentioned here days after) and at those same TRUs, I now mostly see the other versions now. I see absolutely no difference comparing the figures themselves though.

I think the LARGE font ones are errors.

I haven't seen any of the smaller font w/ catchphrases yet in stores (That I've noticed) my LC- Prism Break has the Large font. But I am going hunting on monday so I'ma keep this in mind when I do

its really hard to say which is the norm and which is the print error. Though if I had to guess I'm assuming its the Large font which is the error, course we won't know till more have came out in a few months etc.

I know this is an old topic, BUT I think it's still relevant for collectors (especially *sick* ones like myself who seem to want to collect all the packaging variations).

So... I decided to collect all of the Series 2 LC packaging variations. I've been waiting to see what's the hardest to track down and such. Today I found a Sparkly Jet-Vac label and non-sparkle Shroomboom label. Hadn't seen either one before now.

Still wondering if anyone has seen a small font/catch phrase Jet-Vac or Shroomy yet?

huh. never paid attention.

It seems that the first batch of LC (Drobot, Eruptor, and Prism Break) had the small font and catch phrases. Then came the large font and finally the more common ones now are the ones with the jazzed up foil part and the lights up sticker.

I've seen Triples with the small catchphrase on eBay IIRC.
All of the new LightCore packaging in Australia has that shinier backing- but never come with stickers.
And the LightCore triple has no exclusive to sticker outside of the US, even though it is also at Target only in Australia.

I too have done this. There are four Prism break variations not counting white or employee editions, Three eruptors, two shroom boom and two jet vac and three drobot. Only one version of chill so far. And of course the three pack from target.

OK, I'm feeling better, as I've noticed the variations.

Don't forget the less shiny Shroomboom without the sticker. Matteomax has one I think.
If images from GameStop ring true another variant for every figure with a lights up sticker on the cardboard will come out.

Don't forget pop fizz/chill with sticker on the blister.

If you guys look at the LC boxes on Gamestop, you'll notice the LC stickers on the BOX now. Variant location #3.

I've looked and wondered if they are out there ...I've watched eBay as well--thinking just the two were made on those-
If you find them please let me know so I can be on the lookout!

I'm personally of the opinion that marketing is changing things up since sales of LC have probably been lackluster. The latest variant that seems consistent is the sparkly front (no catchphrase) with the Elluminate sticker and a notation on the top of the cardboard. My guess is things will stay like that moving forward.

Look at LC Chill and LC Pop Fizz to see what I mean.

BTW, went to Best Buy tonight and there's a NEW FRESH WAVE OF LC ERUPTORS. Someone stick a fork in this.

The Eruptor packaging has the shiny foil aspect to them like the 2nd Jet Vac above...so I've now seen at least 3 VARIANTS of Eruptor LC packaging now. The only variant missing is changing the cardboard out so the "lightcore" button appears on it like on Pop and Chill.

For the heck of it I'll buy one to picture all three.

@red leader--what are the 4 different packaging variations for prism? I only have three --plain silver w/ name--plain silver with name and quote--sparkle silver
What am I missing?
@ghostroaster--please post pics of the variations for each character-I'd really appreciate it so I can see what I am missing

I once found a LC Drobot that's plactic seal (With the card, figure, all the stuff you want) packaged completely upside-down. I would've bought it if I didn't have LC Drobot already, just to keep in my room for laughs. I fear that a scalper found him.

But I dont think that counts a a package variation, just the result of an idiot factory worker.
