How messed up is it that the mini-game is actually the best part of the entire game? I just started playing these tonight because I didn't even know about them, and they're the most fun I've ever had with a console Skylanders game. THIS is what the whole game should be. This gives you the chance to actually battle with your characters rather than push blocks and other boring garbage that the main game has you do. THIS is the reason we buy the new characters! I'm actually really hoping that Toys For Bob makes some eShop games that are just more of these, because this is what Skylanders SHOULD be all about. Beating the living daylights out of badguys in an endurance test! I'm so excited about these because until I found them I was really upset with Giants, but having found these, I feel like I've actually gotten my money's worth and paid for something that's actually good. Hopefully Skylanders 3 is just a whole ton of these instead of all the other boring junk found in the main adventure. Though if these were eShop games, then they could implement a score system and a leaderboard for each of the characters. Now THAT'S a Skylanders game I'll get excited for if they ever announce it.

I'm totally going to play through all of these with all of the characters. :3

Arguably, Skylanders is more about telling a story. An "Adventure" if you will.

Although the battle arenas are a lot of fun, the game would lose a lot of its charm just being Arena matches over and over again, even with different enemies, locations and objectives.

I think these would end up being even better in a sort of boss battle mode too.

Personally, I don't think Skylanders has very much charm to begin with. What charm there is comes from bringing the character figures to life, and nothing at all from the story.

My kids and I played through the first set of Brock's challenges. How do we unlock the other ones?

So why are you on the verge of crying about spending money on the figures? The figures would be nothing but toys without the game. So the pushing blocks and junk around that you speak of might deserve a little more respect out of you if you think the characters are fun. As I said, you would just be a toy collector if Spyro's Adventure and Giants were not a game that the toys were created for.

a) I never said I was upset about spending money on the toys. Before the game came out, I was more excited about buying the toys than the actual game, and was 100% happy to spend money on them.

b) No, I should not respect boring tedious block pushing in ANY game. Just because I think the characters are fun, I should respect all the boring parts of the game? It's a game where the main appeal comes from the wide cast of characters with a variety of fighting moves. In a game with those qualities, there should not be long periods of time where you aren't fighting.

c) Yes, the toys would be pretty meaningless without the game. That doesn't mean that I can't expect something better.

Since I don't want this thread to turn into a stupid pointless arguement over a children's time-waster, I'd also like to ask the question of "How the heck do I unlock the rest of the arena challenges?"

Those arenas are awesome, there's no doubt, and they're pretty challenging as well. Sometimes I can't finish the later ones even with totally upgraded Skylanders(though, I think I may just be getting more ignorant from hunting collections in the first levels smilie).
Personally, I don't mind the block pushing, I don't think the whole of Skylanders should just be fighting enemies, I'm not really a fan of when it's just NEARGHNEARGHNEARGH(well... I guess Uprising is an exception).
But yeah, without the toys, Skylanders would barely be laughably bad.

It's a Platform game! All platform games have block pushing and puzzles, that's the main point to the game. If you don't like it play something else.

Also if all you want is fighting go play Dynasty Warriors or its endless sequels.
