Do you have to pay to switch upgrade paths? [CLOSED]

Seriously, i want to find out, can we switch upgrade paths with series 2 yet we have to shell out our in game currency to buy the actual upgrades because that would be stupid!

It's free. But you do have to pay for the upgrade on the other path seperately.
