Finding the figures is our version of the game! We can be involved and the kids smiles make it a job we are happy to do.

I NEVER see kids at the Skylanders displays. Of course, I usually go over my lunch hour during the week, but even when I'm in a store on the weekend and walk by the display, the only kid that drools over the display is my own son. Seriously, I thought I was going to have to pry his hands off of the Giants display a couple days ago ... it was the first time he's seen a Giants display.

I'm an adult that likes Skylanders and I don't even have kids. Even if I did, they won't be old enough to appreciate this game.

My parents aren't excited about buying Skylanders for their kid, they just hope that they can get the ones I want.

...Y-yes, I do turn 21 in less than two weeks, I buy most of my own though!

Also, I've seen loads of boys and girls with their mummies and daddies, dictating which figures they do and don't have so that they don't get duplicates.

My kids have been excited about Giants but they haven't been to a store to see the latest stuff that's out. I figure my kids will be much like Himewad's son when they finally get to a Target or TRU. The thing is I've bought all the new stuff, but they don't know it. I've given them so of it and the others I'm holding back. So, I'll need to come up with a good excuse for why we can't get them when we see them in the store or why they can't use their own money. I didn't buy any S2 so I can at least steer them to those figures.

The "good excuse" you need can be found in these words:

"Because I said no"

It's not what the kids want to hear, but it works every time.

They'll think you just don't want them to have fun. It's illogical and ignorant, but it's true. Unless you have better kids, but that's how I see most people.

I was planning to give my daughter Giants for Christmas. She wasn't even aware the game was released, and probably didn't even remember there was going to be a sequel. I vaguely recall telling her there was another Skylanders game being made, back in February or so. However, she came home from school the other day and said Skylanders Giants was out, and a kid at her school had them.

She didn't actually come out and ask for it, or even inquire as to when we might get it, but I decided to swap her Christmas gift and birthday gift (birthday is next week), and give her Giants for her birthday instead. I can imagine the torture some kids must be going through if they know Giants is out and their parents have still not bought it for them. I had that situation many times when I was a child. In particular, I remember desperately wanting a NES, but my parents made me wait a whole year! Ugh.

My son bought the game last year with his birthday money and asked for a few figures for Christmas. I enjoyed hunting them down and he got 12 for Christmas. Then I started playing it too.

I chose not to wait for Christmas with the game because i wanted to play it myself. So my son and daughter got the game and ten new figures when it came out. Its been made very clear they have enough to complete the game 100%. More figures will appear come Christmas. If I did not enjoy playing the game with them they would probably have to wait for Christmas for everything and get about a quarter of the figures they will get.

Meh. It's a good game with a great hook. It preys on the obsessive compulsive side of us, which I sadly admit I am prone to with things like this, especially when my son shows an interest in it. He would probably have been fine with one or two of each element ... Would have saved me a ton of dough.

I have told my son that SG isn't coming out til Christmas and he comes home from school saying that he's heard it's out. Then I just tell him, "well I haven't seen any in any of the stores," and he's usually fine after I say that. I am not letting my kids go with me to TRU, and possibly Target until Christmas. I can go when they're in school and I'll only have my 14-month-old, and I'm pretty sure she won't tell her big bro and sis she's been dancing around with Giants in her hands (still in packaging for Christmas of course).
