ok forgive me now because I don't have pictures, but the idea that the same figure can have different colour schemes is possible because while browsing giants website I saw two pictures of hex, one in normal colours and one with red as well as black, I also saw flashwing where one of them was slightly more blue rather than pink. might explain winter whirlwind, the other ninjini and a few others.
