My thoughts on the new figures after seeing them in person [CLOSED]

So now my EB Games got Wave One instock and I got to see it all! Yay! smilie
But to something less selfish, I'll do something you guys might enjoy and give my opinions on everything I saw! I didn't get to see the standard Dragonfire and I missed out on checking the three standard news, and no Giants were in, but I DID get to see two firsts, the Game Packs with Tree Rex, Jet-Vac and Cynder and the GOLDEN Dragonfire.

Boxing
As most of you should know unless you're slower than Double Trouble, the new Single boxes have squared edges. Comparing these to the standard rounded edges, the newer ones actually seem to be slightly more in, which is a definetly space saver for people who collect the packs. The Triples don't have the same change, but they're always fine anyway. The new boxing is a welcome addition, and not is not only more practical, but FAR more pleasing to the Eye-Brawl. (Sorry, a pun just had to smilieride in cause this IS a Nibelilt post! smilie)

Figure Quality
Let me say this outright: Wave One of Giants has better quality than anything from Spyro's Adventure. Not only are the molds neater, with faults very difficult to find, the choices of paints are much nicer, and all the figures I saw looked outstanding. Wether or not this is simply because it's Wave One and Activision are trying to pump out good quality stuff to impress us all, the toys this time are far more equal in terms of looks and all of them look great. Fun fact; Whirlwind's horn is freaking tipped in golden paint! And it blends just perfectly with the plum behind it. I daresay the toys are so good this time it almost looks as if all of them were hand-painted. So pure kudos to you, producers.

Starter Packs
Starter Packs are the standard again. The figure quality is less than the simply boxed figures, but it's still quite nice. The box is about as light as the original, nearly lighter, so Tree Rex and Giants probably won't be very heavy. I didn't get to open the box, though. I THINK the Game Packs are also smaller than the originals though I'm not a hundred percent on that, yet overall, they're much more comfortable to hold.

Individual Figures
Tree Rex: Meh as most Giants, sadly. His eyes are virtually see-through and he's a little too washed out in darker brown. On the plus side, all his gauntlets are painted very nicely, the moss has extra detail over the earlier versions, and the toy mold has sweet details.
Pop Fizz: I didn't get a proper look at him, because he was on the top shelf and I needed to get back home. However, from my glimpse the paints seemed to be a very nice pick.
Chill: Didn't even get a peek at Chill, ha ha. Stay cool guys! I'll look at her tomorrow.
Fright Rider: The paint is outstanding. I'm not sure about the detail on his figure or mold, but the paint is simply dazzling. It looks amazing in person and the colors look very true and work well.
Jet-Vac: The yellow stands out a little and the eyes seem a bit off, but otherwise, he has a figure that's nice to look at and fairly detailed.
Shroomboom: Standard approval. The yellow chosen for his skin seems a bit off, and the slingshot string looks blah, but the rest is great.
LightCore Prism Break: Overall, very pleasing. It's what you would expect from Prism Break. Paint is just a teensy bit more washed out than the original, which is a very welcome change.
LightCore Eruptor: A neat paint job with just right shading. The mouth is the perfect size, and the detail is fair for what Eruptor is.
LightCore Drobot: Hey, darkSpyro? His eyes don't light up. Just his core. That would have been overkill, though. Mold is excellent. Paint detail is a smidge off on both I saw, but the mold is probably the finest of Wave One. The core looks pretty awesome though the paints are, a missed opportunity, the same. I cannot say how awesome the core looks. And his stance. Great.
Slam Bam: Less translucent than you would expect. The Armor pins are barely visible. Plastic seems very improved, and paint is all very nicely picked.
Ignitor: Sweet paint job with sweet paint choices, sweet mold, sweet looks. He looks ludicrously less ludicrous when you see him yourself. Fire washed out just right.
Trigger Happy: Standard but great as always with Trigger Happy. Mold seems improved as well.
Cynder: Great paint job. The wash on the figure really looks great and the other details are as neat as ever. Mold is also still wonderful.
Chop Chop: Well. That paint job. And stance. And brilliant. He is simple, but wonderful. Far superior to the original. And with enough detail to boot.
Whirlwind: I daresay one of the best figures already. The blue paint choice is perfect, the details blend brilliantly, the mold is outstanding, and the horn... It's tipped in a gold that's shiny enough to make it noticeable without going too far or stealing the show from the wonderful plum wash behind it. Absolutely fantastic.
Zook: Pretty great figure. Not as detailed as the original, but the mold is great, the paints look more pleasing, and there's still enough on it.
Golden Dragonfire Cannon: I've only seen it unlit. The standard looks much better. In fact, I'd say the GDC is the only disappointing figure of the lot- the paint is very plain and the choice of gold was bad.

Overall
Wave One of Giants is going to have extremely pleasing paint jobs, and I hope this continues into the future Waves. These figures are probably even better than the originals were on release days. They've outdone themselves, here's hoping this amazing work continues on!

I'm excited for the figures, unlike the original. But uh, how did you see them? Were they released in Australia?

EB Games has them in stock. I'm on very good terms with them, so they totally let me just look around in the back of the store and check what I wanted of them. smilie

My friends bought all of wave 1 last year. Now GameStop loves them. We are their second best customers and they hate us for not buying all of wave 1. smilie They try to not talk as much as possible. Stupid on base GameStop. You are so lucky to see them, Nibelilt.

my only worry is of how the giants are made, i personally like the plastic figure feel that was in SA, and i imagine will continue for most part in the regular characters for giants, but i saw in a few videos that the giants are hollow. i wonder if this will bring a different feel to the giants, as i imagine the plastic will be of a less 'rubbery' texture and possibly make them feel harder?

Nice, Nibelilt! I hope Chill isn't as shiny as what we already saw. And is the part where Cynder's mouth connects still off? I don't know if it just me, but it always looked like her bottom jaw fell off and they just glued it back, making it of lesser quality.

I'm both happy and sad the figure quality is a lot better this time. Happy because they will look nicer, sad because it probably means I'll end up buying some series 2 figures I didn't originally want to buy. smilie

Good to know Whirlwind looks good though, considering she's my favourite Air element to play as at the moment.

I wonder if the preorders off of TRU will come before their cooresponding wave is released officially.

If my characters come, I'll definitely show them here.

Ill also try to convince mai GameStop to let me back there, and they said if the street date isnt mentioned to them anytime soon, they'll put wave 1 on the shelves as soon as they received them.

I'm going in a little bit. Does anyone have picture requests?
And SkyDude, of the ones that are out, DEFINETLY get Whirlwind. From the rest it's good to pretty much pick your favorites, but Whirlwind's figure is outstanding.
LightCore Drobot and LightCore Prism Break are also quite nice picks, but I don't know if you're allowed to have LightCores.
But if you really can, buy the Starter Pack cause Cynder is another great looking Series Two.

I agree with Chill, I want to know if she is too shiny like we saw. And could you simply take a picture of Cynder, please? I know we have seen Cynder pics before, but I would like a close up one so I could see her jaw. Thanks Nibelilt!

I wasn't allowed to take pictures, so not much new.
Pop Fizz: A pleasing figure to look at with a sweet stance. There were grey areas on the back hairs on all of them though. The potions and the paint choices all blend nicely in the end.
Punch Pop Fizz: The red paint was an excellent choice. The bands and potions look nice as ever. Looks nicer than regular Pop Fizz overall. Also couldn't see the grey spots.
Chill: Chill looks endlessly better in-person. The plastic of the spear and shield are perfect and on all that I saw the painting had little fault. The blue and silver are just rightly toned.
Fright Rider: Same thoughs as yesterday, though the mold is a bit badly stuck.
And interestingly, LightCore wouldn't shine for just my Wii Portal. This proves one of three things;
1. The Portal has to be connected to a game in order to make the LightCore take place.
2. The Portal I have hates me.
3. The wireless Portal has a MUCH dimmer effect than touted.
Of course the light could be broken, but I tested about five of them...
And as we all know LightCore doesn't light up for the 3DS Portal.

That is great! I am glad Chill's figure is better in person.
