What is it that makes people think that the franchise was sold to Activison?

Universal Interactive, previously called Vivendi Games, merged with Activision to form Activision Blizzard. Since Spyro was owned by Universel Interactive, he is now owned by Activision Blizzard when the two companies merged back in 2008.

Because those people never bother to research to what really happened to the franchise.

But the question is WHY does EVERYONE think Spyro was sold? That isn't exactly the answer, that's just a fact of what happened to the franchise, not why everyone thinks Spyro was sold, and not everyone thinks that Spyro is sold anyway. And who is everyone, I haven't seen that user.

Cause he was. Personally I think Insomniac should have kept him. Uni and Acti are asses.

Except that he wasn't, since Uni always owned the series. Insomniac have never actually owned any of the IP's they've created until Outernauts.

Doesn't Insom own Fuse as well, and EA just publish it to the Xbox 360?

Yep, I just meant that Outernauts is the first IP Insomniac has ever owned, with Fuse being the second.

So between the years of 1998 to 2000, Spyro was owned by Universal Interactive Studios which changed to Vivendi Universal Games in 2004, and was then merged with Activision in 2008. And Insomniac Games had a three year contract with Universal to make a Spyro game per year, and then by 2000 or 2001 they would lose the contract to make Spyro and had to come up with another franchise of their own which belongs to Sony which is Ratchet & Clank. And then Spyro went to numberous developers over the years basically.
