I almost pre-ordered the starter pack today, but I will do it later. Was going to pre-order Portal Owners pack but the guy at Game Stop said that and S2 will not be released in single packs and only be in the starter pack! Should I believe him or not?

I just pre-ordered - but paid off in full - 3 of the 9 Starter Packs I am getting on launch day. I am just waiting to pay off the preorders on the other 9, when they become available to preorder.

Wow. Complete overhaul edit of my plan today, due to Gnarly Tree Rex bundle being confirmed for Australia.

• On day one, I will buy and open the 3DS Starter Pack and the Wii Portal Owners Pack, and the Gnarly Tree Rex PS3 bundle set. All three will be opened. The extra Tree Rex from the Wii Pack and the extra Cynder from the PS3 Pack will be painted or articulated and sold as custom.
  
• When chaosworrier kindly ships over the Wii Starter Pack with the Glow Cynder and Glow Portal Of Power and I recieve it, it will be opened, and the Wii Portal Owners Pack will be returned. (I know EB Games will let me.)
  
• The Wii U Portal Owners Pack is already preordered, and the Tree Rex from that set will be painted or articulated and sold as custom.

No, I still don't care about above RRP non-ingame variants. However, I'd been planning to get another PS3 for a while, so this just gives me an excuse to. The Gold Flameslinger is just around RRP, and Glow Cynder's Glow Portal Of Power friend is an irresistible offer.
Sadly, this plan still lacks Granite Crusher. However, it ensures I will have everything else as soon as possible. Both versions of the Portal, Gnarly Tree Rex, both versions of Cynder, Punch Pop Fizz, Jet-Vac, Gold Flameslinger, both Dragonfire Cannons, and whatever else I can get locally.

GRRRRRRR! I got to see my entire stash of figures one store is holding me. It took up two plastic containers to hold it all, but I got to look through it. I asked if I could take a pic, but they wouldn't let me. Just knowing they're there waiting for me, is such a tease.

Just a matter of days now, until I have wave 1 inhand, so I can come home and take launch day pics.

I am hoping that the PS3 system exclusive comes here to the US, as I would buy one. However, if not, the bulk of my collection will make up the lack of having ONE Skylander. I think it will come here for some reason. When did Sony and or Activision not like money?

Yes, surely they would ride that cash cow all the way to Exploitive Town?

What I don't grok is why it has not been advertised more? In all my searching I only found two UK stores mentioning it and then Big W some time later (so I stopped looking then but there was a long time I did look). No other Oz store has referenced it.

Italian GameStop had an entry for the PS3/HP Wonderbook combo that FamilyGamerGuy mentioned but not this one?

On a Oz side-bar, ignoring game/electronics shops, only Big W has SG in their catalog. Target had a tiny mention of SG coming soon and pre-order but no price. No mention by KMart, Harvey Norman or Dick Smith? Last year they were all over SL like a proverbial skin infection...

Hope that's not a bad thing, Chaos. If they're not marketing it there like they are here, that's not a good thing. Then again, maybe those stores you mentioned just haven't gotten their info for Skylanders yet.

I went back to the store holding my stuff a few minutes ago, because I had to pick up a game. My daughter went with me and wanted to see the stuff, so they brought the two buckets full of stuff they're holding me back out. I took pics this time. Not the greatest quality, but still, it's something I can drool over until I pick up said collection in 11 days.
