I have been wondering what the situation will be for the new heroic challenges. I'm going to assume that since there are 8 new regular skylanders there will be 2 of each "bonus" : speed, elemental power, critical hit, and armor. Who will have which? Also, will giants have challenges? Will regular figures be able to do them? Will they have giant bonus' as well, instead of 8 speed maybe 16? Will giants be able to do new/old heroic challenges? What are your thoughts and predictions?

My understanding from the interviews is that all chars will have a new heroic challenge and the challenges are more diverse and interesting this time around.

i've heard similar. If the reposes have new ones as well, maybe even light cores having new ones, plus giants, that would be about 80 heroic challenges... scary thought

That could really add to the replay value. right now doing heroic challenges is more of a pain than anything, just level grinding.
On a side note, i would love to see tree rex attempt drobots purple chopie challenge

could be interesting to see regular chars attempt giants challenges. It may be fairly easy for say eye brawl to do one, but would be very tough for regular skylanders. And would justify a larger bonus.

Well, right now I find all the Heroics desperately easy(even PSC360 Drobot and Wii Double Trouble). So I would prefer to see just one new Heroic each for new characters and Giants- BUT have them be harder. If they add one for every figure I would give up right there, 32 on 37 was already grindy enough and already gave an overly generous boost.

i was wondering when you would show up!! i agree, 80 would be overkill, but maybe lightcores could have them too. and if they do end up being "quests" they may be more fun.

Well, I think the new Quests are just a seperate thing for the sake of a separate thing to do. I wouldn't mind seeing LightCores get them, but I doubt it. I just hope they don't add too many, cause otherwise would just be a bore.
Especially since you will need to redo all the old Heroics on Series Two which would be 48 challenges... By AT LEAST 78 different toys, with possibly more variants coming, to do it on every single unique character and version of them. Assuming you finish all of them on all Series One, new characters, Giants and LightCores, that's a total of over 3744 Heroics played- not factoring possible additional Heroics from LightCore and Series Two figures and any failed attempts! *_* |

I really hope series 2 figures don't have their own exclusive heroics, because i don't plan on buying them, but i'm a bit of a completionist, so i'd like to get all bonuses on all skylanders

This is what I've been wondering.
I wonder if one were to only have series 1 Skylanders, would they unlock NEW Heroic Challenges in Giants? If so, would series 2 Skylanders unlock the same Heroic Challenges as their series 1 counterpart? Would Lightcore Skylanders unlock a seperate Heroic Challenge as their series 1 and 2 counterparts? That's what I've always been wondering. Can you imagine if this game gave us entirely new Heroic Challenges for EVERY Skylander you own? 32 Heroics for series 1 Skylanders 16 Heroics for new Skylanders/Giants 24 Heroics for Series 2 Skylanders 8 Heroics for Lightcore Skylanders 60 Heroic Challenges, lol. I doubt it will happen, but I am curious what Skylanders unlock what. I've also been worried about series 1 and 2 Skylanders becoming overpowered compared to the new Skylanders and Giants. Why? Well, Series 1 and 2 Skylanders are compatible with the original game, thus they can do the original 32 Heroic Challenges for upgraded stats. Then they can go to Giants and do all of the new Heroics to improve on the stats from the first game, while the new Skylanders and Giants can only do the Heroics from the second game.

Besides the Heroic Challenges, Nintendo Power revealed that each character has an individual "quest". The example given was Tree Rex has to defeat 1000 enemies during gameplay. So they're more story quests, rather than special challenges. (No one ever responded to this when I posted in the News thread ;__; It goes back to that one video we saw where the silver box popped up in the corner saying Tree Rex had defeated X amount of enemies)
Those could possibly be used to give characters a boost in stats too.

If I remember correctly, in the long family gamer interview, I think they said SSA figures wouldn't unlock heroic challenges in Giants, but I'm not positive.

good point @gamemaster78.
if current skylanders can do new challenges they will become very over powered. and i personally am on the fence about the series 2 figures....i might buy some of them because i like the new pose, but if i can only afford the new guys thats fine too. If i end up with a few like starter pack cynder, and ones in 3 packs i'll have to deal..i honestly dislike that each 3 pack is giving us 2 re poses and only 1 new guy. It's like they're forcing us to buy series 2 poses! |
