At Toys R Us today I found this on a display shelf in electronics:



An alarm clock with a speaker and 30-pin iDevice dock (so much for new iPhone or iPod Touch devices). It was part of a display reset, so though it was on the shelf, there were none in stock and no pricing yet.

Behind the electronics counter, I spied these:





Some of the already-discovered-but-not-yet-photographed-in-the-wild character earbuds. These had been put on the floor by mistake, breaking the street date. They were tagged with a note saying the SKU was not in the system. Though I couldn't buy them, the associate was nice enough to let me take the pictures.

didnt anyone tell them that the iphone 5 dock is totally different? or are they depending on kids having the old ipod touch/iphones to play their music. also, doesnt that picture on the idock thing look like a badly printed sticker?

The dock is the 30-pin style because of the lead time in the product development cycle. There's a larger installed base of older iDevice users than those with new devices anyway. It makes sense.

It's the mesh over the speaker that's printed...that's why it looks odd.
