Skip Spyros Adventure - Directly to Giants? [CLOSED]

I want Skylanders for 3DS.
What do I miss if I skip Spyros adventure (for 3DS)?
I understand you get a special of version of Spyro with Spyros Adventure Starter Pack (for 3DS)?

Also, can you buy Giant game separately if you already own the portal from Spyros Adventure?

1. You will miss the entire game, with the exception of the Adventure Packs which so far are the same in Giants. IMO, the 3DS version is the best version of the game, so if you really want it, you should get it. Although if you don't plan to buy many figures it isn't worth it as they make up most of the replay value.
2. This version of Spyro, Dark Spyro, has a different moveset on the 3DS to regular Spyro. However, on the console version, he is exactly the same, just reskinned. So if you plan to play the 3DS version a lot, it's worth it to buy him to use in Giants as well. Plus, you get Stealth Elf and Ignitor with him. (Though they aren't exclusive.)
3. You can buy a version with just the game and Tree Rex or a version with the game, Tree Rex, Series Two Cynder and an EXCLUSIVE Punch Pop Fizz. (We don't know if Punch Pop Fizz has different moves from his regular counterpart, though.)

Wow, that was FAST.
Well, it seems I should get Spyros Adventure and live with the fact that the three I get with it won't be able to level past 10. I guess it will just be a bigger challenge with the later parts of the Giant game smilie.

1. Replay value. So you really think that new figures adds a lot?
But then I can just wait for the Reposed figures which I can the use for both Spyros adventure and Giants, correct?

Well, I'm on all the time, and I saw this topic, so I wanted to help out .smilie
1. Actually, ALL the figures will be able to go past Level 10, to 15, but this only affects the Giants game.
2. New figures adds a TON of value, I suppose, on its own, it's not that bad, with just the Starter Pack, as long as you collect everything, the game should be about 8-11 hours. But the main campaign is really short, if you wanted to run through, you could probably clock it in about 2 hours, maybe less. So figures are a must, if you want to play a ton.
3. Yeah, the reposes work in both games. Though you will want to buy the Darklight Crypt (Ghost Roaster) and Dragon's Peak (Sunburn) Adventure Packs as well as Voodood, Dino-Rang, Wham-Shell, Boomer, Warnado and Camo because the characters from those aren't getting reposed. And if you want all the levels you also need to buy Empire of Ice (Slam Bam) and Pirate Seas (Terrafin) since we don't have any news on those being remade in any way, but both the characters from those packs are getting remodeled.

But I read that the figures already released won't be able to level past 10 and because of this a lot of people are really pissed of because they put a lot of money into this game.

I believe it's still just 15. The new upgrade is just for the console version. Unfortunately, we really don't know much about the 3DS version, other than that it will be different again, and will have its own story again.

^Wumbo, you can't tell someone to not get the game all because you don't like it. That's just your opinion...

You can try out the 3DS version if you want, Isbet, it's your choice. The 3DS version has a different storyline, different villain, most of the characters are different, and the game is more of a platformer that allows the Skylanders to jump.

Hektore was a scary villain, he literally chases you down in every level in the 3DS version of SSA, and he tried to kill a character in the game, but captured him instead. He is more evil than Kaos.

Someone needs to make a song about how terrible Kaos is!

Gigantic Evil head? Not a scare by a thread.
Twelve Shadow Minions, roaming his dominions.
But defeat them in one run, it's just a warm up and no fun.
The Lair of Kaos? Place to train up,
Pathetically easy, non-Airs find it breezy.
And his dialogue is so dumb,
It with boredom will make you numb,
And there is absolutely no need for that to happen with luck.
Why dear Kaos more than Jet-Vac... YOU SUCK.

And also, Hektore is an awesome villain. The only thing I dislike about him is how easy he is to beat. I honestly hope he returns in Giants somehow or AT LEAST gets referenced.

The problem nobody has brought up about buying the 3DS version on its own is that without the console game, you can't reset your characters back to level 1. I never would have even BOUGHT the Wii game if it weren't for that, and I wouldn't have been missing much since I also feel the console game isn't anywhere near as good as the 3DS game. Still, Nibelilt and I are in a minority on that. Most people prefer the console game, but that's probably because we still live in a world where most people don't take handheld gaming that seriously.

the 3ds kinda sucks, but 3ds XL is AWESOMEl. and SSA on 3ds was fun. it was a good game. i did however like the console version more. the best thing about the 3ds game is that you can jump. and yes that almost makes it better than the console version.. but if you want to go back and explore an area its almost impossible on the 3ds, console version, track back and explore all you want!

see if you can find the game only from ebay for cheap (if you get giants 3ds with starter pack im bettering the portal will work on SSA too)

I bought Spyros adventure today.
Only played like 15 minutes so far.
Have to say I really like it this far in.

I still feel confused.
Could anyone please link a page where everything is explained?

MY understanding:
8 Giant Skylanders
Tree Rex - Life
Bouncer - Tech
Crusher - Earth
Swarm - Air
Hot Head - Fire
Thumpback - Water
Ninjini - Magic
Eye Brawl - Undead

8 Brand New Skylanders
Shroom Boom - Life
Jetvac - Air
Chill - Water
Pop Fizz - Magic
Fright Rider - Undead
Hotdog - Fire
Sprocket - Tech
Flashwing - Earth

4 Reposed Light Core Skylanders
Eruptor - Fire
Prism Break - Earth
Drobot - Tech
Hex - Undead

4 NEW Light Core Skylanders
Shroom Boom - Life
Jet Vac - Air
Chill - Water
Pop Fizz - Magic

24 Re-released
Prism Break - Earth
Chop Chop - Undead
Whirl Wind - Air
Double Trouble - Magic
Stump Smash - Life
Ignitor - Fire
Trigger Happy - Tech
Sonic Boom - Air
Gill Grunt - Water
Slam Bam - Water
Bash - Earth
Drill Sergeant - Tech
Hex - Undead
Zook - Life
Terrafin - Earth
Cynder - Undead
Drobot - Tech
Eruptor - Fire
Spyro - Magic
Flameslinger - Fire
Lightning Rod - Air
Stealth Elf - Life
Wrecking Ball - Magic
Zap - Water

Which are the 8 the WEREN'T re-made for Giants?
Is this list complete (except for the 8 that weren't reposed)?
spyroflame0487 Emerald Sparx Gems: 3866
#26 Posted: 19:12:34 06/11/2012
The 8 that didn't make it to Giants are:

Voodood- Magic
Wham-Shell- Water
Boomer- Tech
Ghost Roaster- Undead
Camo- Life
Warnado- Air
Sunburn- Fire
Dino-Rang- Earth

Your list looks like it's complete to me.

Essentially, they included all but 8 characters from SSA as reposes. What they did to make up for the missing ones was to release LightCores, which in turn made 4 Skylanders have double figures in Giants (one LC, one S2)

So, thinking of ordering Giants also smilie.
I can get one of the following for free when bying Giants:
Crusher
Swarm
Bouncer
LightCore Prism Break
LightCore Drobot
LightCore Eruptor

NO idea what to choose.

Also, when it comes to the ones where there are both LC and SC2, do I want the LC or S2? Difference?

If I choose LC Drobot it will also work with Spyros Adventure, correct?

Ok!
So, I right now have 3DS (Spyros) starter pack.
Dark Spyro (S1) - Magic
Stealth Elf (S1) - Life
Ignitor (S1) - Fire

Now, in both Spyros Adventure and Giants you need all elements to unlock everything.
Therefor planning to get the following, which I want to be able to use in both SA and Giants on both 3DS and Wii.
3DS giant start pack.

So:
Cynder (S2)- Undead (3DS starter pack)
Punch Pop Fizz (S2) - Magic (3DS starter pack)
Tree Rex (S2) - Life (3DS starter pack)
Crusher (S2) - Earth (can only be used with Giants smilie Choose this because seems to be on top on the PvP ranking list and would be nice with 2 giants
LC Drobot (S2) - Tech
Slam Bam (S2) - Water

So, this will cover 6 elements in Spyros Adventure and 7 in Giants.

What do you think about my Crusher/Drobot/Slam Bam, are they considered STRONG?
Won't get all figures, so really want as strong as possible.
