Has anyone heard if Giants figures will have the same staggered release and fake shortages Spyro's Adventure had?

There is no doubt in my mind that it will happen as soon as kids get home on launch day. Luckily for me, my parents promise I can stay home to nab all the figures I want... But anyone who can't will probably be in for a horrible experience.

Activision said that they would try to work to provide more supply. I don't know it they will be able to, but I hope so.
I don't think that they will have problems on day 1, since most of the kids will have the game for Christmas, not before. so maybe around January it will be hard to get a hand on these... |

Last year, when I bought the Skylanders game, I was easily able to buy wave 1 and 2 figures from anywhere. However, right after Christmas it was impossible to find any figures anywhere. I hope this time with Giants they sort out the shortages and make enough figures.

I'm all going out on launch day. I'm going to GameStop first, then Walmart, then maybe target and maybe best buy. All four of these places are extremely close to each other, best buy being the farthest. The nearest TRU Is like 20-30 min away.
I highly dou t they will fix the problem. This game is th most anticipated game of the year. So many people are planning the same thing. No. Top of that it is around Christmas and Black Friday. So we might have major shortages between release and Janurary. I do believe they will bring on more figures, but I don't think it will be enough to fix the shortages. |

Reimu...that may be a bit of a debatable statement. I think there are tons of kids that are gonna be chasing this on launch day. Wait till next month...there will be more clamoring for it then. I'm prepared to hit all stores at launch and buy extras of stuff that I can get my hands on to help others

Well, no, if we talk in numbers, I would say that Black Ops 2 might be the most anticipated game of the year Regardless of if we like it or not...
But anyway, it is off-topic, and like I said, I don't think that there will be a shortage in figures until January, after which a lot of kids would got the game for Christmas and will want more characters. |

Well it is highly anticipated but not the most anticipated especially with competition like Pokemon Black/White 2.

Can people get over themselves. It's not a FAKE shortage. The reason for the shortage and staggered release is due to production times. They would need additional facilities in different locations to kick out the full run all at once. That would cost the company more, and thus the figures would be more expensive.
Wham-shells weren't getting mass produced until a couple months before release. They wouldnt have had any to put on store shelves if they even released them all at once anyway. Now, let's say Activision lost their minds and decided to go ahead and run the whole series from the start. The factory would have to reset and recalibrate twice as often since they couldn't run the same figurine for as long due to trying to supply the entire run. This would slow things down and cost money, therefore causing less figures to be available upon release at a higher price. NOW think about how there are fewer of each figure from day one. Now you'll see massive shortages of each individual character. The scalpers would have a field day with this to the point that scalped figures would be scalped two, three, possibly four or more times as parents got more and more desperate to get their brat of a daughter "chill" in time for Christmas. Be careful what you wish for........

They really should create one figure facility in each country. Not that I EVER have shortage problems, but them simply outsourcing it to China is just lazy.

I'm doubting there will be a shortage this time around. They can't afford it. Activision is expected to experience major subscription loss when the first round of annual pass subscribers calls it quits...myself included. They need to replace that revenue so the share holders do get scared and sell. The Skylanders i.p. was Activision's most profitable i.p. from January to June. Mark my words, this time around they will be everywhere.

They might have had stock problems because of trying something risky, but now they should be prepared.
Just hopefully they realize new characters are in higher demand than old ones are...

Well of course they know that. You won't see a single triple pack with multiple "new" characters. It will be one new and two old. Or in the case of the battle packs, one and one. I'm also wondering if they are doing any battle packs with a giant and the extra level. That might be cool.

Its not laziness. China has many more raw resources still lying around, the labor is cheaper, and codes are more relaxed. From a business side of things, it's hard to criticize companies for utilizing Chinese facilities when mass producing something for worldwide release. Companies in European influenced countrys have employees who just expect WAY too much any more. Luxuries are confused as necessities and comfortable living is confused for just scrapping by.

Just because it's logical, it doesn't mean it's not lazy. Acti probably have made billions of dollars from this franchise that they could easily fund in-country development for less shortages and more new characters with, but they choose not to.
Think about it: Doing it would mean the poor ol' UK would have gotten Dragon's Peak, Wham-Shell, and everything faster, and would mean better stock everywhere. I admit that I don't know how business works, being 13, but surely it isn't that difficult. |

Yes, it is that difficult. And just the time needed to build the factories, find workers, get the insurances... they will be working on Skylanders 6 by this time.
The first Skylanders was a big try, they were not sure it would work. So it wasn't possible to take longterm plans. |

You'll understand more as you get older. Honestly. I know outsourcing and reliance of foreign products seem like grevious crimes to teenagers, but when you understand th process companies have to go through to get a product out there, you can understand a company going the path of least resistance just to stay in the black.
