I was wondering if something in the blue bash or werds since they are store exclusive may have some coding that will allow them to be a solid color in the game? just my idea but maybe having a clear stealth elf would be cool or a glow in the dark wreckingball in the dark areas to illuminate a bit?

I havent updated since I don't particularly care but I have gotten all the skylanders except varients only ones are glow Warnado and WERDS

it'd sure make having variants more fun and valuable.

Yeah, it'd be very cool to have them, but then again...that means a lot of people are gonna be left out of getting these "alternate costumes".

And you know when people don't have their way, they're gonna whine like crazy. (See: Skylanders Facebook page post Blue Bash, and post Dragons Peak/Zook/Lightning Rod release)

Although...I don't really know if they'd be able to do anything like that in the first place. Aren't the figures exactly the same? If they had different data on them, then I'd understand, but wouldn't they have to release updated versions of the chip in the figures if they wanted them to be displayed a certain way?
In the least, it'd be something to hope for future variants.

Oh good God I hope not!

The variants are infuriating as is. I promised myself that I wouldn't get any figures if they weren't different in game, so if they did...
And getting your hands on ANY variant is a pain in the backside like no other. The figures already cost ridiculous amounts ANYWHERE. Stores even have the cheek to nab up any variants and auction them off for more money, like those 'Crystal Cynder' bundles. What a kick in the teeth.

I mean, unless they actually sold the variants like they did with the Legendaries, then maybe it'd be excusable (Not welcome though)

I just think how cruel that would be for kids who love the game, who will never get the chance to play as the character they want to in their favourite colour because some fat greasy scalper has snagged it and holding it for ransom... smilie

God the thought just get's me riled up...

very true, people will whine how much they want them, they can't get it, how the prices are too high etc..
but maybe things like werds or blue bash made more available to the customers?

In an interview, they said they didn't want the variants to feel any more special than they are.

Please. People would whine if the 3DS XL got a second Circle Pad smilie

But on-topic, I'm indifferent. It's not missing out on much, but it does mean the game will feel incomplete without having all of them... As long as they don't get any kind of stat boost, I suppose I'm okay with it.

I think the chips that come with the variants are identical to the mass retail ones, so there's really no way to distinguish them.

It'd be cool if they had a way to track the pack in codes that came with variants and for those who registered them in SSU, they could update the skin on your figure...

...or if they had different skins to choose from for use in Giants...like Flocked Stump Smash, Blue Bash or Red Drill Sergeant as alternate skins for all Stump Smash, Bash, or Drill Sergeant figures.

...or even better, if they had an editor that just allowed you to change the colors of your Skylanders in Giants to whatever you wanted, then no one would complain and people could color their in-game Skylanders all manner of horrible custom colors they wanted. smilie
