Why There Is No Jumping [CLOSED]

There is no jumping nor is there to come because it makes easier for young children to play the game and get frustrated by always falling. Remember, you hard core gamers, this game is meant for a younger, less advanced audience.
The also make it easier by having automatic camera movement and not the ability to change camera view.

I thought it was because Skylanders is basically a Gauntlet/Diablo style game, both of which have no jumping or even camera controls.

Even if you could jump in Skylanders, what good would it do? I agree with this guy.

It is a Gauntlet/Diablo style game, and, from a design perspective, when you commit to a global jump mechanic, you usually have to devote a consistent and primary controller button to that activity.

Also it starts to make the characters feel a bit more generic, because now they must all jump. I would much rather have a cool, champion-specific power than a jump that is not necessary.

Wait...falling? What part do you fall off of?

There's maybe only a few places where jumping would be good. It works well on the 3DS, but the console games are made so that jumping isn't really needed at all. I don't think it'd really add that much to gameplay or anything.

As failinhearts said, it would detract from the gameplay as there are puzzles that required you to climb up a ledge and then fall down onto blocks that you pushed so you can go across and get a treasure ir something. If you could jump, you'd just be able to jump and get the treasure without doing the puzzle. That wouldn't be fun.

Yeah, but there wouldn't be a point in the puzzle if you could just skip pass it by jumping.

If they had jumping I'm sure they would incorporate that in their puzzles. They wouldn't leave them as is.

True. I was just talking about how if it were incorporated into Spyro's Adventure with the game as it is now.

Don't want jumping, don't need it. It would make tethered co-op absolutely unbearable.

That's because it's a platformer, not a dungeon crawler...

Soo right.Sorry for going off topic, but the way co-op is is already quite annoying.

First off, wow the Interviewer sounds so ditsy. Sure there's some things my niece and nephew like that I know nothing about, but I never sound like that!

This. Jumping is fine on the single player 3DS game but will drive you mad in co-op. That said a "rejoin jump" would be useful for those times when, in co-op, one of the players falls off a moving platform/high ledge and both players have to start the section over.

Do people not realize that the 3DS version has jumping because it is a platformer, a completely different genre!?!

Sure we realize that. My point is... He said there is no jumping because Skylanders are for young children, if that is true then why would they make a Skylanders game that has jumping.

Skylanders is a good game for all ages, it's no more of a kids game than Mario or Zelda is, some peope are just afraid to give it a try.
