I remember hearing reading or watching the ability to "switch paths" and have been reading the discussion here on the forums. However, when I first heard this and now read those discussions, the implementation differs from what I thought. Does anyone have a link to the article/video when this was mentioned?

I read it as: "You will be able to switch between completed paths; switch between Pook Saint Blade and Forest Ninja"
Forum read: "You can choose upgrades regardless of path for the three abilities"

The Forums viewpoint seems more realistic and fun but wanted to read/listen again to for the informations.

Thanks

I thought you could choose two paths and use them together. What I don't know is if you can choose both the current paths, or between the current path and a new path.

There was a specific comment made to the tune of "not being restricted to one path". Unfortunately, I cannot find the article or video it is from. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

"The upgrade system has been tweaked a bit; whereas before, you reached a point where you had to choose between one path of upgrades or another for each Skylander, in Giants you can switch back and forth between upgrades."

THat is still kinda vague. What is "in Giants you can switch back and forth between upgrades."

Does that mean characters can use multiple upgrade paths? I hope the old charcters can do that! If not, maybe it means you can re-spec existing characters switching their path later, by turning off the existing path to follow the new one for a while?

From the E3 press release I have (which isn't particularly helpful either):

"Each Series 2 Skylander features an all new “Wow Pow” upgrade power, as well as the choice of more than one upgrade path"

Now you could say characters in the original game have "the choice of more than one upgrade path" as they get to choose between one or the other at one point during their development, but from what has been said elsewhere I'm assuming your character gets to develop down multiple paths, but what structure that takes is currently unknown. If only some bright spark would have pressed the "back" button during the gameplay demo at E3 and examined the characters in more detail.

I swear I remember this being in an E3 video interview somewhere also. I also remember it being stated that the "Muliple Path" options will be restricted to series 2 Skylanders.

I read it as just their way of including a re-spec feature, where you can change upgrade paths without having to re-level or do Heroic Challenges again. I'm not even sure the abilities will come for free when you switch; you may have to re-buy them all. I could be wrong, but I think this is just the fix for S:SA's problem of having to completely reset all aspects of a character (level, gold, Heroics, S:SU Hero Level, etc.) just to change paths.

it was in the video on gamespot where one dude gave another dude a silver spyro and then the second dude said he would offer it up in a compo, then they went on to talk about giants and yes, the subject of switching paths was mentioned

Tashiji - That's pretty much what I originally thought but there's been a lot of other interpretation as well. I still think what you described is the likely scenario.

fateorfear - Thanks! Found one here @ about 5:45 into the video:
