I made this topic in the Giants section, but I want people to actually see this. In the June issue of Nintendo Power, it was announced that Giants will have a starter pack(with a portal) and a booster pack(without). The Skylanders that come with the console version are Tree Rex, Series 2 Cynder, and Jet-Vac(rename of Airgle). The 3DS replaces Jet-Vac with Pop Fizz(rename of Alchemist). In addition, the magaizine confirmed the new level cap of 15. I'll add scans of the magazine later. Thoughts?

Every S:SA 3DS Skylander is available seperately now (at least in some countries), so I don't see why that would be a concern for you. I got Ignitor, Stealth Elf and Dark Spyro all in single packs.

Yes I know, I'm just saying that because all 3 S:SA 3DS Skylanders are available seperately that suggests that all 3 S:G 3DS Skylanders will eventually be available seperately... so why worry?

Oh and for the record... Pop Fizz is an awful name... Alchemist was much better. Jet-Vac is fine, it's closer to his earlier name Vac Eagle, both of which are better than Airgle imo though it does sound a little like a super-powered vacuum cleaner or a leaf blower...

Does it list a price for the starter pack (with a portal) and the booster pack (without)?

JUl, this topic is about Giants, not Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. Since there is already the same topic on the Giants section, why post this in this section when it's not even about Giants? People can see it in the Giants section as well.

I'm not saying that this is the best place for this topic but I haven't checked the Giants section for months so I would have never seen it there...

Agreed. Alchemist was such an awesome name. Pop Fizz might work out to match a fanatic personality though, kind of like Trigger Happy. Airgle seriously sounds like a pokemon to me so I'm glad they changed that one.

I was expecting the level cap to be higher but if it only affects HP maybe it's not important.

It has just occured to me that the console version has the 2 elements not represented in the first game if all you bought was the console game and all 4 adventure packs:

Magic: Spyro
Tech: Trigger Happy
Water: Gill Grunt, Slam Bam
Earth: Terrafin
Undead: Ghost Roaster
Fire: Sunburn

So all that's left here is:

Life: Tree Rex
Air: Jet-Vac

And an aditional undead in the form of Cynder...

This doesn't help if you want to unlock all the gates in S:SA because new characters are not backwards compatible but imo it's interesting.

It is not the case in the 3DS version as air and tech are still not represented.

Edit: Oh and interestingly Play.com are still listing Tree Rex as a single character pack. Though if it's bundled with both versions of the game it won't be released as a single pack...

Got it bro, now im buying the starter pack with the portal now. I dont care about the cost, just tree rex being in there is a ripoff!
A game and a tree rex is stupid!

I love the name Pop Fizz It's really cartoony. I mean, really, it implies he transforms through soda. A hidden message about sugary drinks, maybe?

No wonder, he looks like hes on a sugar rush!

No, from pictures. The base of the portal will change to the colour of the skylander's element

I'm getting the starter pack for both systems. Pop Fizz and Jet Vac FTW! The lights aren't working too great kn my current portal anyway. It doesn't hurt to have a backup.

I need to put two giants and a magic item or location piece on right? Imagine that. The location piece cant fit and i want to use it as a weapon or use the magic item. Whatever and if i have three portals right beside each other they randomly act as one portal and if you put a figure on a portal each, there you go! Win!

could they work at the same time? and game pieces work when placed near or on the grey parts of the portal

HEY PEOPLE, keep in mind that the booster and starter packs are different prices. and it has been confirmed that every game piece can be bought without purchase of the second game (except for tree rex, i believe hes an exclusive (much like spyro)).

Pop Fizz is an awful name for Alchemist. Alchemist is so much better. :/

I really hope that these starter packs are untrue. Me and my gf play this and like the 3ds as well as the Xbox version so if these are true I'm gunna end up with three Tree Rex's with no one to sell them to as everyone will have him.

why three? 3ds=one tree rex, xbox=one tree rex. 1+1=2

Me and my gf will get a 3ds version each. With S:SA I managed to get the 3ds version for myself with only stealth elf in. I sold stealth elf to someone who didn't have a 3ds. Selling 2 Tree Rex's is gunna suck.

Edit: It's good that they'll be selling the booster sets otherwise I'd also end up with three remodelled Cynder's and no one to sell them too. S:SA had a better variation of characters between the Xbox and the 3ds version, the character distributionin the starter packs in Skylanders Giants is just lazy.

console ver: tree rex, cynder and air vac? (one figure, TWO GIANTS?)

Jet-Vac isn't a giant - it's a regular Skylander. The only revealed Giants as of now are Tree Rex and (not confirmed but probably) Bouncer.

Why Is There A Second Tree Rex And Second Cynder For The 3DS Version?
Can They At Least Make Them A Special Kind Like They Did With Instead of A Second ?

I saw a vid on youtube saying both starter packs come with tree rex series 2 character and a unknown new character so they are the same i hope that theroy about 3ds with popfizz is fake i own the wii version i dont have a 3ds seriously activision i have enough trouble finding skylanders as it is
